it reads "Unsolicited incoming ARP reply detected, this is a kind of MAC spoofing that may consequently do harm to your computer" ive done a few tracert reports and didnt see any alarm there. I am also on a wireless network and my question is could this be the network im on "bridging" trying to find my IP address causing the Message above? and should this be any concern for alarm?

The FileSystemObject may have been disabled and/or restricted. Now when attempting to run reports, it times out and returns a 'result is nulll.' What do you think the issue is?

I am having an issue with getting the clients to show up in the BESR Manager Console. There are two instances (two subnets). The first, I have had to do a restore of the host machine (Server 2K3), and had since made changes to the Management Console. Thus, the machine that was installed post restore-point does not show up. The client machine still has the BESR client on it, but I can't get it to talk to the host machine. I have done the InstallFix.bat, and several attempts from the PublisherUI.exe - https://Host-Name:8443/axis/publisher..... Changed HostName to IP, used http instead of https, changed the port to 8080, and combination of all of those, with every attempt failing to publish back to the host machine. I have stopped and started the services on both host and client machines and changed the credentials in their properties. The second subnet, we successfully installed the client, but no luck on it reporting back to the host box. I tried all the same solutions. Other...

Hi All,
I'm pretty open about this. As we wait for Version 7 of the Asset Management Solution, I was wondering if there is ANY way to just add a date to a PC resource, i.e another field in the a table or something..somewhere..anything??
I'm trying to think of a simple way to do this.
At the moment we can grab a good list containing PC names, service tags, model/brand - if i can somehow put a date to that and have the report bring it out..thats all I really need.
Interested to hear thoughts/suggestions
Thanks

How do you add a drilldown to resource manager in a report? So far, I've created the drilldown to go to Resource Tools. However, when I enter a hint, it doesn't stay. So, I tried a different approach, maybe set it as a different web site. I'm not sure what I need to put for the URL or query string. Any ideas? The ultimate goal is to drilldown to the Resource Manager.
Thanks.

Is there a way to send notifications via email regarding the status of the backups along with a few details about it, like the time it took to complete?
I am considering doing away with Backup Exec 12 but within this new application (Server Edition) I fail to see basic reporting capabilities, is the management portion of the software required to achieve the aforementioned tasks?
Thanks

Proactive threat Protection Needs more improvments as it is doing almost nothing. It should detect on behaviour of a file.Currently symantec is only depending upon signatures. Now irus writers are easily corrupting SEP and it can't even save itself.
SEP is failing to save itself also. A small program enters and easily destroys sep in a system. symantec should include some technology to protect all its files which are created during installation.

Hello, all..
I know you can get the list of workstations using DS, and I know you can run SQL queries from a DS job, but I just can't seem to put the two together in my head..
I basically just want to get a list of all of the workstations listed on DS.
I know from looking at other forums that you can WRITE to the SQL server via a DS job, but I'm wanting to pipe the results of a query to a text file.
For example:
Export a filter from DS query (http://www.altirigos.com/vbulletin/deployment-serv...)
so I'm assuming I just need the first bit (SELECT DISTINCT dbo.computer.name
FROM dbo.application)
and this thread:
Finding blank Computer Product Name? (http://www.altirigos.com/vbulletin/deployment-serv...)
has a post from Nick on editing the SQL directly..
However, I can't find one which exports the results to a file..
Any chance someone can help me with this?
Kind regards,
Gerard

I have a piece of malware on my computer. The malware keeps wanting to redirect my pages to "winguard2009.microsoft.com". After running AntiVirus 2004 with today's (11-4-09) latest updates, I still can not get the items cleaned. The following files are showing infected:
C:\WINNT\System32\iehelper.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\tipjile.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\siruboma.dll
C:\WINNT\System32\fisuneje.dll
The following message is displayed:
"Actions taken: Clean Failed: Quarantine failed: Access denied.
My operatin system is Windows 2000, Version 5, (build 2195; Service Pack 4)
Any help that can be offered would be great,
Thanks.

Live update is not working cos there is no internet access from the terminal server. SEP version 11.0.5002.333. I can telnet to the managment server using the correct port using this link:

Is there a way to tell our AV clients not to flash an alert for a specific event? For instance, we have a daily Nessus scan that runs in the afternoon. We get unneccesary Help Desk calls form people spooked when they see the scan alert. I don't want to totally disable ll alerts. I'd just like the client AV not to falsley worry the natives.
Thanks!

Hi,
We are using Mail Security for SMTP 5.01 version (Win2003) . I am interested in monitoring number of incoming/outgoing messages in a way that it warns me if there has not been any activity in the past hour.
I am familiar with automatic reports which can be send by email but what about sending an email if nothing goes thru ?
Is it possible with SNMP or Performance Monitor and if so how would I achieve it?
Thanks,
Jysse

One of the challenges that you may face as you scale up your Recovery Solution environment is keeping track of how much free space is left on your Recovery clusters. It was easy enough to generate a simple report to sum up all the SpaceUsed, SpaceFree, and MaxSize columns in the RawVolume table (which tracks the storage space for each storage location you define in your RS Cluster configuration). I converted that simple report into a iterative query using a cursor that checks free space for each RS cluster, adds that to a temp table, then exports all the results and emails them to a defined list of users via email. Quite a time-saver when you have ~16 Recovery Clusters to keep an eye on!
To use it, just import it into your NS console with Recovery Solution installed, edit the Email Automated Actions, enable the Policy, then click "Test Notification Policy". Just like that, you'll get a daily snapshot of Recovery space utilization...

I get many dozens each and every day - email from SEM, "Security Alert Notification"
The email says one thing, the attachment, however, has NOTHING.
It's been this way through ALL upgrades, from our original install over a year ago, through a move to different servers, and different versions. Still the same issue - email says there were xxx security events, such as 5 security events, 59 in 1 minutes, include firewall, traffic.
When I open the attachment, I get this - there's nothing there!
(this is another reason I'd like to see them move AWAY from attachments and simply put the info in the email body, I'm sick of opening all these attachments to get details - and then find the details do not exist! If the info was in the email BODY, I could SORT into folders with Outlook.)

We've configured the Centralized Exceptions in the Management Console, however they do not appear in the Centralized Exceptions list on the workstation's client app; all other settings configured appear correct. The client screen syntax shows "User Defined", indicating those on the server are not displayed because they are 'System Defined" as opposed to "User Defined". Due to the extreme issue of corrupting certain databases (particularly accounting software such as Mas90 or PCLaw) it is critical that the extenstions are not being scanned and that this can be verified on the workstations. It would be much easier if the Management settings appear on the Client software (i.e. a report/log file under the current "Troubleshooting" menu, displaying the settings being used), to verify the configuration is being pushed to the workstation correctly.

I have created some custom reports but I'm having some issues.

(2) I have added the registry entry from the following Symantec fix article http://support.veritas.com/docs/289472 but still dosn't work.
Any idea's
