I am wanting to migrate my SEPM database from SQL 2005 to a SQL 2008 database. Is there any documentation online that shows the steps to migrate the database?

Should first point out that both the BUE server as well as the Oracle box are mutlihomed, but I've tested with the credentials that the RMAN listener can be connected to over the network segment that's being used for backup traffic, and I used a custom selection list to specifically point to the correct interface on the Oracle machine, so I'm not sure that there'd be a good reason for this to fail.  Failure occurs immediately. Here's the output from the RMAN script at the time of failure: Recovery Manager: Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production on Thu Nov 5 16:05:45 2009 Copyright (c) 1982, 2007, Oracle.  All rights reserved.    # -----------------------------------------------------------------  # RMAN command section  # -----------------------------------------------------------------    RUN {  ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch0      TYPE 'SBT_TAPE';  SEND 'BSA_SERVICE_HOST=172.16.4.102,NBBSA_TOTAL_STREAMS=1,NBBSA_JOB_COOKIE={...

Shortly after the Day Light Savings Time (DST) that took place on November 1, 2009, the database maintenance has been starting one hour earlier.  For the last 2 years it's always been set to run everyday at 2pm PST; as of November 1st it's been running at 1pm everyday. I only have one BEWS running and it's been installed on the same server; BEWS v11.0 r. 7170 Service Pack 4, Hot Fix, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 69. Some of the things I've tried, but to no avail: Disabled the database maintenance, stopped and restarted all of the BE services, and then enabled it once again. Did the same as above only I did a reboot of the server. Changed the system (OS) timezone and then changed it back; this was something that Microsoft had suggested back when the DST changed - basically it was a way to force the TZEdit to take effect All of the scheduled backup jobs (including LiveUpdate) run at the correct times so it's just the database maintenance schedule that is incorrect. As an FYI, where you set...

The FileSystemObject may have been disabled and/or restricted.  Now when attempting to run reports, it times out and returns a 'result is nulll.'  What do you think the issue is?

Hello All, I have been facing a lot of trouble with the EV Search archive issues. Following is the list of the ones encountered till now: - 1. Search not working properly: - Date range search is not getting all the mails in that range.  (Example: In my mail box if there are 6 archived mails on Date 15/11/08 , a search from 15/11/08 to 15/11/08 gets only three mails. - Mails out of range is also retrieved. (Example: If search from and to date is 10/11/08 to 11/11/08, mails of 12/11/08 are also retrieved) ------------------------------------------------------- 2. Multiple copies of the mails are being restored: When a single mail from vault is restored to mail box, multiple copies of the same mail are restored (Example: I restored a specific archived mail of 28/08/08 and now there are six copies of the same mail and same date restored in my mail box) ------------------------------------------------------- 3. When a basket is created and restored, the status shows as ‘...

We manage HP Thin Clients (t5000 series) using Altiris Deployment Solution 6.9 SP3. I am looking to import them into CMDB on NS6 using the eXpress-database as data source. Is there a simpler or better built-in way of doing this? I have created "Thin Client" as a new asset type in CMDB and used "Network Resource" as "Base Resource Type". I would like to add the Data Classes "AeX HW BIOS" and "OS Operating System Common" to my custom Thin Client asset type. I cloned both data classes and moved them to User Defined, but when I open the asset type Thin Client and click Add Data Classes, the User Defined folder appears to be empty. I exported the cloned Data Classes to XML and changed <userEditable>false</userEditable> to <userEditable>true</userEditable>. After import the User Defined folder still appears empty. What am I doing wrong?

This script will check the character set of an Oracle database to ensure that it is compatible with Symantec DLP 10. To run it, you must be able to log in to SqlPlus as the DLP Oracle user, traditionally named "protect".    1. Extract the three script files from the archive, leaving them together in one directory.    2. Open a command line window and change directory to the directory containing the scripts.    3. Launch SqlPlus and log in as the DLP Oracle user.    4. Type: @checkcharset_DLP_10.sql The script will display on the screen the name of your character set, and a message confirming whether or not it is compatible.

Hi all I'm new to this forum and pretty new to EV as well but this is a very interesting product with a lot of potential so I'm hoping to work a lot with it in the future. anyhow.. I have set up a demo environment using the guides at partnernet and everything works just fine except for one annoying thing. As far as I can tell I've followed them to the letter (even though they are not very clear when it comes to the SSRS configuration) but I just can't get reporting services to work the way it's supposed to. when I browse http://localhost/reports it at first seems ok, I can see all the links to the EV reports but when I click on them the browser briefly shows "report is being generated" and then comes up blank with the message "Execution [random letter combination] cannot be found" When I browse to http://localhost/reportserver and select the same report (or any other) it works just fine. I can't find anything useful in neither the windows or SSRS logs for those not...

We are using Altiris console version 6.0.6074(SP 3 + R8).  We moved a Data Class to new location and cannot move back to original location.  Moved it from Contract Data Classes to the User Defined folder but when we try to move back the original folder is not available in the Move Item - Web Page Dialog box.  This moving process messed up the Resource Type - Software Purchase.  Now when we try to create a new import rule and point to the Resource Type with the data class we moved we get a server error below.   Server Error in '/Altiris/Connector' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please...

Hi, I am getting a weird one with configuration wizard. When I get to the part where I am asked for database location I fill in location and click next, but nothing happens just a momentarily egg timer no matter how many times I click next and no errors at all. I have tried different partitiions on the sql server and I have also verified I have write access to these partitions. Anybody come across this before?? Thanks P

Hi Guys, I have created in Wise Installation studio 7.0 an MSI installer which deploys a database to either C:\Program Files\Root6\Database (on 32 bit system) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Root6\Database (on 64bit system). The installer then runs an SQL Server script to attach the database: USE master; GO if (SELECT SERVERPROPERTY ('Edition')) = 'Express Edition (64-bit)'     BEGIN         CREATE DATABASE objectpersistence         ON (FILENAME = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\ROOT6\Database\ObjectPersistence_Data.MDF'),         (FILENAME = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\ROOT6\Database\ObjectPersistence_Log.LDF')         FOR ATTACH;     END ELSE     BEGIN         CREATE DATABASE objectpersistence         ON (FILENAME = 'C:\Program Files\ROOT6\Database\ObjectPersistence_Data.MDF...

Hello, Im facing a strange problem: the backup is configured to backup Lotus DB files (nsf, ntf) from a remote windows 2003 R2 SP2 Server. However this doesnt seem to work giving error: _________________________________________ Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe00084b8 - An error occurred during backup. See the job log for details. Final error category: Job Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33976 _________________________________________ after consulting this Help site, 2 options are interesting for me: 1) Install SP4 to get rid of this - has been done already, BE 10.d is running on SP4 (under windows server 2000 it solved more or less the problem. Sometimes, approximately every week the server needed a restart and then the Lotus files were backed up again) 2) Change registry settings: Ive tried that one too, and after the first attempt it seems to be successful. However, as described in the manual this is a solution for BE 12 and...

Recently I received an inquiry from a customer about a 16GB IntelAMT database. The customer had configured less than five thousand Intel AMT systems, and they expressed concerned that the database was so large. There are customers with several tens of thousands of Intel AMT objects configured, yet their databases are less than half that size. What guidelines can be provided to determine an appropriate database size? In general, the core database is only a few megabytes in size, with each configured Intel AMT system adding on average less than 0.5MB to the database. But if your IntelAMT database is far beyond this average (i.e. much greater than 0.5MB per configured system), you might be wondering what to do. The core answer to handling large or overgrown databases is to reduce the amount of event logging. Events are logged based on actions, errors, and level of logging. If you are experiencing a number of errors in configuring or maintaining with the Intel Setup and Configuration...

Hi there, When I set my store and index location in backup modus, I receive events that both are set in backup mode successfully. However when I clear the backup state, I receive event id: 7320, none of the index locations is in backup mode I tried setting and clearing backup modus manually and by scripts, both with the same result. Backups work perfect, so must I worry about this event, or not? Thank you in advance.

I have a SEPM server running with 1000 clients connecting to it. Now I have a spare server with me which I want to use it as a backup server for the main SEPM server.   I am using embedded database on my primary SEPM server. How can I setup my spare server as a backup server so that incase my 1st sepm server fails all the clients will transfer to the backup server and get updates from that server and also with the same policy.

Hello Everyone, We are in the process of evaluating different replacements options for the Altiris Beta Portal.  As part of moving towards a combined, single-sign on service for our customers, we would like to elicit feedback from you on what you would think of making the beta products available via Symantec Connect?  A couple of questions to consider: What are the main reasons your organization does not participate in the Altiris Beta Program? Would you be more likely to participate if the products were available via Connect? For those that participate in beta, what can we do to help you more effectively participate in our beta cycles. Please let me know your thoughts by responding to this forum discussion. Post your questions, and I will respond directly. We thank you for your efforts in helping us improve our products. -Best Regards, Andrew Taylor Symantec

I have a CASO server with 5 managed media servers. My backup jobs were configured on the CASO server. When logging into one of the managed media servers, only the job history is displayed, not the scheduled jobs.   I use the command line utility to generate reports on the backup jobs. I use BEMCMD –o506 to get all the job info, which I then filter. My problem is that I want separate reports for each media server. If I use –c”mediaserver”, I don’t get any results (return value -1). How can I run the command and target jobs on a specific media server?   Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, I have got a strange phenomenon here. I see tape drives going down because the tape cannot be unmounted. This is because the source slot where the active cartridge originally came from has been occupied by another cartridge in the meantime. I understand that this could happen if you would open the library and put new tapes into random free slots manually but that this should never happen if I use NetBackup to empty the CAP and do a robot inventory. Could this be an inconsistency in the EMM database? By the way if I do a robot inventory while the situation described above still persists NetBackup will tell me that the library contents is up to date and that no updates are necessary. Any hint, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Thomas

Hi All, Can anyone shed some light on how to get the Symantec Endpoint Manager communicating with MS SQL Server 2008 Express / Full edition? The wizard gets as far as entering the database details and then when "creating the database", a error box comes up saying that the "user sa: already exists!" Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I try to add a data class to a resource type ( I click the Add Data Classes button), I get an Internet Explorer Script error "GetPicture failed Unknown error."  I am asked if I want to continue running scripts on this page.  (see attachment)  I click Yes.  Then I get a second Internet Explorer Script error "Object doesn't support this property or method."  (see attachment)  I click yes but the Items Selector window is blank and does not display the data classes.  It  just says Loading....  No items ever appear. Server is NS6.0.6074 SP3 R10.  I have deleted internet temp files and ran a repair of SP3 and NS6.0 but get the same errors.
