Hello, last Week my Problem started, if i want to make a Backup of the single Mailboxes of the Exchange2003 Users the Backup Job hangs at the last entry of my Backup Job. The Jobs seems to run but it hangs it is not possible to chance it or something, i have to stop all Services and restart them. I know its not important to save the single Mailboxes if i got a Backup from the InformationStore. But i want to get fast back to single Elements if something happens. My System Windows 2003 Server, Backup Exec 10d+Exchange Option+OpenFiles, Exchange 2003. Every Software is Patched already and there are no more Paches available. One thing i changed is the Backup Driver. First i got a LTO1 and now a LTO3. Hope someone can Help. Thank You Best Regards HWB

Lately some of my jobs, though not always the same ones will fail with the error code E00083ED then set the media to 'End Marker Unreadable'.  Why this is happening I'm really not sure, but even after putting in a new series of tapes the problem continues.  If anyone has some ideas on what's going on please reply. Hi I would like to know what are the files are backed up against a client and against a policy on a particular day or particular period. I have tried to use bplist and bpflist commands.  But the strange thing is i am able to see the images using BAR GUI and bpimagelist commands, if i want to know granualrity i am unable to get. Another strage thing, the bpflist command is able to retrieve the information file systems inforamtion like if i have a policy againist solaris client, and the backup selection is "/", i am able to see the backed up files under '/".  But if i have a policy where backup selection is individual files like c:\mssql\transaction.log or d:\*.BAK or e:\*.cfg, i am unable retrieve the information. Due to this customers are getting like, is the product is enough matured or the product has limitation or end user doesn't know. Well before having all the speculation, could any one advise me how to proceed further. PVR

Saludos cordiales, Eduardo Rodriguez. Montevideo - Uruguay

I need to migrate my hardware platform. Current hw has {on a single physical volume} WinXP Pro on primary partition C:, extended partition with WinXP Pro on logical drive D:, applications are installed on logical drive E:, and data is keep on logical drive F:. I’ve done a backup of c:, d:, e:, and f: with restore anyware licensed. I can do a restore of all the volumes. C: boots properly and I can get the required drivers to install. D: will boot but gets BSOD and immediate reboot. I can boot d: in safe mode with networking and install all the needed drivers (based on Device Manager showing no ? devices). However, d: will not boot in normal mode (get BSOD, but it happens so fast I cannot see error code/info). Looking for ideas on how to resolve.

Have a Novell server running Backexec 9.1, tape change has 8 slots. Only using 7 currently. This server and configuration is somewhat new. I first started off with running backups , Full or Differential , 7 days a week, each week having its own job, its own media set and different tapes assigned to each set. Each set only had one tape assigned to it.  The first 7 weeks , everything ran as it should, switched to the next week and new media set without any issues. Than for some reason, when it cycled back to week 1, no job would run. I tired everything and watched as the clock ticket by the start time and nothing happened. No errors, no nothing.Well i, for some reason, had to erase and re-scheule all the jobs, which was not to bad considering all the settings, groups, media remained the same, just had to reenter those jobs. Again for 7 weeks everything ran fine. Now starting this week its started somethign new. Jobs are running as planned, except not...

I am recieving the following error message repeatedly "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort0" since I performed an upgrade from version Backup Exec 12 to 12.5. Does this have anything to do with the drivers in the newer version? I am also recieveing windows error logs of "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.", "The device 'Unknown Medium Changer' (SCSI\Changer&Ven_IBM&Prod_3573-TL\6&1141ce5f&0&000201) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.", & "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort0." with event ids 129, 12, & 11 respectivly.

Hi all, need some idea's on how to track down the cause of my Netbackup issues. I am running Solaris 10 X86 and NB 6.5.3, Spectralogic library. Currently only have the master seeing 2 drives, and robotic control on drive 1 lun 1. I've been trying to track down some slowness and scsi timeouts. I find that when I run robtest, mode sense takes greater than 40 seconds to come back and allow me to see drives/slots etc. I am thinking that the issue is with either the HBA used to talk to the drive or somewhere along the path. Any help would be appreciated. thanks, D

I purchased a Tandberg LTO3 tape drive and it came with the QuickStart Edition of Backup Exec.  I ran Liveupdate on it and it downloaded SP2 for Backup Exec 12.5.  Now I am not able to use the tape drive.  I looked in the device manager, however it has the exclamation in front of it.  The research that I have done states that I need the hotfix 327966, which has the lastest drivers.  This still did not work.  Any ideas how I can resolve this? Regards, Kevinme

I am using Symantec BESR v8.5.1, and I have no option to create a custom SRD (System Recovery Disk). I need be able to load custom drivers to a Dell Optiplex 760 (NIC Intel 82567, required .inf e1k5132), and the current disk does not have the drivers on it (checked through the auto-validation utility on the disk). I have tried to load the driver before I start up the Networking inside the current recovery disk, and it confirms that the driver loaded. But  when launching the Networking, it fails (no matter which driver, correct or not) with a 'Symantec Recovery Disk: Could not get network adapters'. I have installed the 'CD/DVD Support' option with the custom setup CD. From the some of the other documentation I have read, there should be a 'Tasks' tab on the Main Side Bar of BESR Manager, but it is not present. How do I get the option to create custom SRDs? JCoz

Hi, I'm using OS Server 2008 on a Dell E6400 laptop which is acting as the DHCP & File server for 21 E6400 laptops. I've configured it to use push Windows PE to the clients which then runs Ghost 32 to image the laptop clients. I'm using the Intel Vista Ultimate 82567LM NIC drivers (E1K6032.INF) and it works for 3 of the E6400 laptops consistently. If I time it just right I can ghost up to 8 of these laptops at a time. The trouble is if I start say 3 at a time and then another 2 about 5 minutes later I'll often (but not always) get it failing either trying to get the DHCP address or after Windows PE downloads to the laptop and the wpeinit (startnet.cmd) starts it will fail to retain it's ip address it received from DHCP and give a 169.XXXX loopback ip. I have been able to Ghost up to 8 of these E6400's at a time. I'm able to consistently Ghost with 9 Dell D810's and 1 E6400 starting them at different intervals but as soon as I have more than 3 E6400's ghosting at one time I run...

Drive Type: Dell RD1000 USB Tape Drive Driver version: 5.2.3790.0 Backup Exec Version: 12.5 for Windows Servers OS: Windows SBS 2003 I am working on a machine where we are attempting to migrate from Yosemite Backup and are getting stuck with Backup Exec recognizing the tape drive. I have attempted to add the device under all devices and am getting the EM: "There are not other devices to be added to this device pool at this time" Under the device configuration wizard I get the EM: "No devices were discovered....." This device seems to be on the Compatibility list and we have been able to use it with the other backup program without any trouble so I would think the drivers to be installed correctly. Does anyone have any similar experiances with this? What is the best way to correct? Where can I locate a better driver to use if this is the issue?  Thanks, Josh

About Winsock: The Winsock is a technical specification that defines how Windows network software should access network services, especially TCP/IP. It defines a standard interface between a Windows TCP/IP client application (such as an FTP client or a Gopher client) and the underlying TCP/IP protocol stack. A Windows XP machine can sometimes have its WINSOCK catalog become corrupted and it appears like a network connection is disabled. In that case one of the symptoms is, if you use the ping command, it gives you arbitary characters in the output. example:  In command prompt, type PING 127.0.0.1 you will see the reply pinging °ÿ with 32 bytes of data That °ÿ is the telltale sign that the WINSOCK catalog is corrupted. You can use the netsh command utility to repair the winsock. Please enter the following command in the command prompt: netsh winsock reset catalog Reboot the machine. The issue will be resolved. The command above, will reset winsock catalog...

I am using a Sony SDX-500V AIT SCSI Tape drive on a server 2003.  At the end of 2008 we installed the Symantec Backup Exec 12 for Windows Servers.  In mid October our tapes started ejecting by themselves and we have not had a good backup since.  I have tried multiple different tapes.  I have checked to make sure that the over write feature is on, & the jeject upon completion is not checked.  I've made sure that there are no updates. What is happening is, I put the tape into the drive & sometimes it ejects right away and other times it looks like it is preparing a backup & will run for quite a long time but then ejects by itself.  I have canceled the scheduled job, and restarted.  I have canceled the job & ran an inventory & it is completing that successfully.  I've tried running a test & it fails every time. Can anyone recommend a solution for the tape ejecting over, & over & over again?
