Hi You'll need to back up Exchange files to disk to allow the Granular Restore Technology (GRT) to work correctly - otherwise, you won't be able to restore individual messages and folders, only the entire Mailbox Store. Doug.

Hi Are you backing up Exchange to disk or tape, as to use GRT for Exchange fully, you need to be backing it up to disk - backing it up straight to tape will only let you restore the Store as a whole. Doug.

As I've said above, if you're backing up direct to tape, then you won't be able to restore individual mailboxes/messages - you'll have to stage your backup to disk first, then if you want it backed up to tape, you'll have to set up a duplicate ...

Hi Martin From what I can see in the Admin Guide (page 415), the maximum size for a backup-to-disk file is 4096Gb - the default is 4Gb. Hope this helps Doug.
