multiple DB's are there, may vary from 2-4 TB DB's are on Linux VM- VMDK dont have exact version and transfer rate

Current is standalone SAP servers with BCV backups on dedicated server and move them to tape via SAN.. now our idea is move these servers to VM on a Vblock. so looking out for different solutions we can implement.

in installation guide it is clear.. to simplify this.. first allocate the storage disk to the nodes where you want to place the catalog and config database i.e after allocation.. format it and mount it then create a new group under cluster ...

did you re probe the drives after you changed it, it seems to be global database stale issue, removing  and reconfiguring drives will definetly solve the issue

try exceuting nbrbutil -resetall or nbrbutil -resetmediaserver <media_server> on master server this will remove all the stale settings... inorder to exceute this you need to ensure that no job is active in activity moniter.. i hope ...

i recommend you to remove all the drives and robot, then add them through storage configuration wizard i dont know how to spell in unix
