I found the problem. During our testing, I turned on SKIP_DISK_WRITES and forgot to get rid of it. Now that it is gone we can restore go forward.

Found the problem. For some reason, SERVER was installed on these 3 machines instead of CLIENT. Removed the server software and re-installed and upgraded the client.
