you would be able to backup . But without  GRT . 

pls upload disaster recovery of active directory
with native tools i've done thrice or more, but nt wid NBU.. as i dnt have lab so cant take risk

Guide should help to get confidense on NBU restore methods... Underlying principal remains same, it's only backup application which has changed (native to NBU)

My DC clients dont appear to have that folder structure you listed:

/veritas/netbackup/db/altnames

I realize you said to create the altnames directory, but I dont have the db directory either. My clients have:

BareMetal

bin

DbExt

Logs

online_util

resources

scripts

sec

share

temp

var

my clients version is showing as 7.5 is this something that should be applied to the media/master server? it wasnt quite clear for me.

Was NBU master server installed properly?

Do verify it again, it should be there.. 

altnames may or may not exist, You can create it followed by No.Restrictions
