May i ask if this version of Symantec System Recovery will backup 'ALL' system files individually or will it only backup 'UNIQUE' files?
We currently use the Altiris Recovery Solution which will determine whether a file of the same type has already been backed up, which helps reduce the required space needed for storage...

If so, is there an upgrade path from Recovery Solution to BESR?

Backup Exec System Recovery is a full disk imaging tool.  It will backup ALL used sectors on the disk, even if a sector is the same as another sector on the disk.  The software does not have deduplication functionality in it.
 
What the software does offer to save space is the ability to create full backups less frequently (either weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even yearly) and then run just incremental backups on a daily basis.  The incremental backups only backup all sectors that changed that day and are much smaller in size than full backups.
 
There is no upgrade path from the Altiris Recovery Solution to Backup Exec System Recovery as they are different products.

Im using this product at the moment, but looking at this to protect our Active Directory Domain Controllers. We have over 40 Domain Controllers.

I found a White paper about BESR best practices, but do you have anything on the best methods to backup and restore Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 DC's?

I've just looked at the System Recovery Management Suite-I was very disapointed to find that it was a 32Bit application that could not be installed on my 64bit Backup Exec media server. Shame that.

Is this the same as System Recovery 2010? Or is i a later version?

I am new to this but I am trying to recover a file and when I drill down to the folder the subfolder was to be in it does do not show. I went to the Windows directory to verify I had the correct path and they are there. How can I find this files and is there a check box that I should check that I should have checked to backup all the folders? There are 3 other folders that show up in Windows that don't show in my backup also.
