SCRIPT:

Welcome to this program on "Creating policies to manage endpoint computers."

In this video you will learn about...

·        Symantec.cloud policy types

…and…

·        The configurable elements of system and service policies

There are two types of policies: system policies and services policies.

The default Global System policy serves as a template.

The default policy cannot be configured.

You can copy it and then configure the copy

... or simply click Add Policy.

Give the System policy a descriptive name then configure it.

There are three parts that may be configured:

·        Proxy Settings

·        Local Update Service

…and...

·        Live Update Schedule

The last step is to assign the System policy to the groups that will use it.

Then Save & Apply the new Global System policy.

The Services policies are specific to a Symantec.cloud service.

The default Endpoint Protection policy is a functioning default policy.

Most customers can be well served using the default policy.

If you need to customize the default endpoint protection policy you must make a copy and modify it.

...or click Add Policy rather than open the default policy

The Computer Protection portion of the policy allows you to enable or disable features. It also enables you to exclude:

·        Mapped network drives or removable drives;

…and

·        Specific files, folders, or file extensions from a scan.

The Device Control section lets you allow or block the use of USB storage devices.

Allow permission can be limited to read-only;

…and

Block can be configured to send user notifications…

Web Protection features can be disabled or enabled…

With Network Protection, you can disable or enable features and you can also create custom Firewall Rules or implement Program Control.

Your policy can schedule scans at specific times on designated days using the weekly selection --- or --- at specific times with the daily selection.

Finally you assign the Services policy to the groups that will use it.

Then Save & Apply the policy which queues it for dispatch to the agents.

This concludes the video "Creating policies to manage endpoint computers."

Thanks for watching.
