Exchange 2010 SP2 GRT with NetBackup 7.5
Hi All
Hope you find this video informative
This is silent video; however attached sheet contains all the pre-reqs required for GRT setup. Kindly go through the pre-reqs first.
If you already have GRT setup enabled still, somehow it is not working as expected. Kindly check below issues if exists
If Activity Monitor Shows:
11/12/2008 13:01:35 - Error bpbrm(pid=6388) from client exchange: ERR - Unable to initialize nbfsd.
11/12/2008 13:01:36 - begin writing
11/12/2008 13:01:50 - Error bpbrm(pid=6388) from client exchange: ERR - Error encountered while attempting to get additional files for Microsoft Information Store:\
11/12/2008 13:01:56 - Error bpbrm(pid=6388) from client exchange: ERR - Exchange granular restore from this image may not work.
Time to check for NFS Service and Portmap service for above
This issue only occurs on Windows Media servers. The error is caused by a conflict with the "Server for NFS" service on the Windows media server housing the Disk Storage Unit. Stop the "Server for NFS" service to allow backups to complete:
> net stop nfssvc
This service can be disabled or switched to manual to prevent the service from restarting after a reboot. It’s necessary to manually start the "Portmap" service if the "Server for NFS" service is not enabled, as per Chapter 2 of the "6.5.3 Documentation Updates":
> net start portmap
Make sure to keep an eye on job details, it makes it crystal clear for initial troubleshooting. If it says Client for NFS Service not Found or is not installed. Check for NFS Services on
In case of any query PM me or share your views. :-)

Hey Speedfreak,
Trying to get this setup and I am receiving the following error(below). I followed the pdf of your suggested steps. Can you explain to me what you mean by the last step?

After going back through the entire pre-req's I finally found the issue.
No.Restrictions file was missing. Completely over looked that part of the setup.
I'm also not sure what you meant by:
"Replace Administrator with user created with above membership" Where?
and
"Specify this account under Netbackup Client host properties - Client Setting-Exchange"
A little help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for taking your time for feedback. Have revised transcript with DAG and few corrections which was pointed.
Thank you all
Cheers !!!

ur both video r silent , but r informative with all details reqd... tahnx for saving admin guide readin time @
We are planing 4 cross forest due to internl chnges. Will NBU able to restore it in cross forest too. GRT and database both?
Glad to have helped you bit. As far as cross forests are concerned , It is all DNS which plays key role. You need to ensure Service account which you use must have required permissions (outlined in attached sheet) at target forest Exchange
For trust in between i believe it must be two way and name resolution must be in place, better harden host files of target exchange to ensure they communicate to correct servers
Rest all are same.
Do let us know if above helps
If any issue ariese you can create new thread , connect would be happy to assist you
Cheers !!!
