Monitoring Applications on a Client Machine using the Application Metering Policy Video
This is a how to video on monitoring the applications that are installed on a client machine using the Application Metering Policy. Application metering lets you perform the following tasks on managed computers:
- Control the availability of applications
- Monitor the use of applications
This feature requires the Symantec Management Agent, Inventory Agent, and an Application Metering Plug-in be installed on all target computers so that you can monitor and record the usage of applications. The data is recorded in the CMDB and is viewable through reports. Application metering reports let you view the following information:
- Which metered applications were used
- Application resource usage statistics
Users can control the availability of an application with the following options:
- Allow an application to run at all times
- Deny an application from running at all times
- Deny an application from running at specified times or on specified days
Note: Application metering is a Windows-only feature and supports only desktop operating systems (e.g. Windows XP, Windows 7, Vista, etc.)
