Install Backup Exec client ontop a computer without a server

Just left Symantec yesterday, was Director of Federal Consulting in US.   Have an external drive with some fbf files I am trying to recover.   Ghost woun't recover the .fbf files so I download trial Backup Exec, trying to download the client so I can recover those .fbf files.  Will this approach work?   Where on DVD iso is the client installation only?

If above won't work any suggestions?   Thank You!

Jeff

I do not think that NBU-BMR

I do not think that NBU-BMR would be helpful to protect if it is only external drive. In this case BE would be a good option rather than NBU as you will need NBU whole setup (master server, media server and client) to be prepared and it is best suited for enterprise level protection.
Do you have BE backup of you .fbf files or whole disk? If yes you may recover them back. BE experts can comment on this.

Thanks.

HI mandar

You have shared a superb VDO. I would like to ask a question regarding DSR restore of BMR.

Is that possible that we can also change the name of the Target Machine while DSR restore of BMR

Any comment will be appreciated. Mark as Solution if your query is resolved

No. We can not change the

No. We can not change the machine name. BMR is actually not meant for provisioning. :-)
Its main purpose is to recover a machine back to its working state. Changing machine name may start failing some applications on that client which were dependent on machine name.
But still someone can change machine name manually after bmr restore.

Thanks.

Cool Video of BMR based P2V Restore.

This was a very good video Mandar & Bestin. Thanks for Sharing the same.
It clarifies how to do P2V using BMR. Its quite neat using BMR to do a Physical to Virtual Restore.

Hi Venkata, This

Hi Venkata,

This configuration should be supported by BMR and even DSR should work.

Are you facing any issue? Or any specific query you have?

Thanks.

    Great Zahid Haseeb

    Hello,

Zahid we R glad U r back (he had helped me soo many times)

I have done some DSR w/ the source server UP (changind the IP) the FQN  I'm still having problems.

even physical to virtual, I have made our DEV. evnironment by cloning the prodution servers to VMWare

Really, Bare Metal Restore is the greater diferential feature of netbackup.

I have not tested w/ a non windows environment but really great.

    I can't imagine a netbackup invirronmente without a bmr/pxe server

    it really works
