Sometimes a video is worth 10,000 words. Here's one showing a VMware ESX deployment on a Dell server using the pre-provisioning method.

If you're one who has to see someone else walk through a configuration before you "get it" or if you learn by watching, this video could be just what's needed to boost you up the learning curve.
No additional player or codec is required to view. Just unzip the archive and execute the .exe file.

Great video, I am studying a VMware ESX Deployment project for our organization, now I can give more information and more details to show.
ESX install
I noticed this was for 2.5
Would we use the same script for 3.5 or is there something new or is it just editing the 2.5 script.

Yes, you would use the same DS job and scripts to deploy ESX 3.5. The only technical caveaut being that if you upgraded to DS 6.9, you may have to remove one line from the script in order to successfully deploy.
Modify the last task of the "Scripted Install of VI 3.0" job found in the "VI 3.0 Deployment" sub-folder of the Samples folder in DS. Remove the "REM scripted-install" line in the script and save your changes.

Please help with 3.5 ESX scripted install

hav u had any success using the canned scripts that come with DS 6.9 SP1?
Its under the followign folders.
- VMware VI3 Jobs (ESX 3.0.x and 3.5) \ VI3 Deployment
The script is called "*Scripted Install of VI 3 (3.0.x and 3.5)"
I cannot get this script to work.
I have the ks.cfg configured and in the right location and all the necessary files are presnt int he location that the script is looking for....
I deploy the job to a dell r900 and basically it ahngs at the third step in the job "Run Script" which has a description of "Prepare HD for a Network Scripted Install of VI 3"
On the server itself the loads Caldera DOS and then just sits at the C: prompt.
So it loads the DOS_ONLY.img which is called int he first step of the joba nd that's it.
Any ideas, suggestions?
I have already called both Dell and Symantec support and they are clueless about what to do.
Symantec's answer is its not a supported OS but my argument is that it doesnt even get to the kickstart file.
The script just dies after loading the DOS_ONLY.img...
