Welcome Juice Faithful
For those of you coming to Connect from Juice, I wanted to take just a couple of minutes to show you around the site, highlighting a few of the differences between Juice and Connect. We've tried hard to keep the things you love about Juice (great content, nice rewards) while enhancing a few things. In this short video I'll show you a few of these enhancements and hopefully answer some questions you may have about how things work in Connect.
I've also created a few screencast tutorials on how to do basic things on connect. Click here to see those.
If you've got additional questions about how to do things, leave a comment on this video.
If you want to leave feedback about the site in general, drop us a note in this discussion, or start a new forum discussion and tag it with the product, "Symantec Connect."
doubt
where can I find recent comments like in the old site?
thanks
Very Cool!
Love the cool new features of the site. The forums rock! Thanks for making the Symantec community such a sweet place to hang out and learn.

If you are looking for content from a particular product
There are two ways to do it. The easiest way is to go to the "Endpoint Management" community, click the "Articles" tab and then use the filters to show the products or topics you are interested in.
Alternatively, from the "All Connect" area, click the articles tab, then choose the "products" tab at the bottom of the page. Choose the product you want to see articles about.
thanks
Looks intersting.

Congrats & suggestion
First implression is good. Always a pain to redefine the best way to find information etc.. but I am confident that will work. Congratulation.
I have one design suggestion for now. The lay-out is not flexibel at all. I use a common 17 inch monitor and I would like to be able to expand the page towards the width I feel comfortable with. Would be great
Where are the old articles?
I am searching using common keywords that show good articles such as "Custom WinUser" or "Collection". I get 0 results which is very hard to believe. All of my bookmarks from Juice.altiris.com don't even resolve to the pages that used to be. Where are the older articles? I wouldn't think they would just be tossed.....
disappointed
I've always liked the clean layout of the juice site, thought it was friendly and easy to navigate. It's tnot that I don't like change, trust me I'm going through a lot of it right now, I think the layout is too busy, a bit confusing and not as clean as the old juice site.
sorry guys

another comment
Can't see more then a couple of posts on the "front page". I know on the old site most of the votes/comments were made on items that were on the front page, now these gems won't get the play they should because of so few posts on the front page.

jason - there's a search bug
jason - there's a search bug that we're working on right now. It should be resolved shortly.
jjessee - On each community landing page (which is the front page of each community) we show the ten latest posts below the featured item. So we've preserved the Jucie concept of listing newest items, we've just added a featured item on top.
Once the search bug is fixed
Once the search bug is fixed I will be happy! Thanks everyone for your hard work. We appreciate it!

Definately improved... but
I really miss the lime green!
blogs? communities?
Ok, the new site isn't terrible. I think I'm getting the hang of it but it always stinks when a smaller group or subset get swallowed up and "incorporated" into a larger population.
So what's the deal with blogs? It seems to me they're just like forum posts. Are they even necessary? Shouldn't those just fall in the forums category?
And are there going to be communities for every article posted? Why call it a community when it seems that's some sort of illogical label for subscribing to a thread?
I find a streamlined website is always preferred over a busy or convoluted one - not that this one is that, but it seems like the layout could be a bit more refined.
New site.
It's gonna take some getting used to but should be fine in a couple days.
Voting widget
I noticed that users are limited to voting thumbs up or down, vs the old Juice site where users can score articles from a scale of 1 to 5 with the result being the cumulative average.
Good articles do not stand out as much now, as the result is now relative to the total votes of other articles vs a fixed scale (which imho is much easier to read)
Any reason for this change?
what's the difference again between
a blog and an article?

RE: Blogs and Articles
@jjesse - that's actually a really good question. We combined the old "tips" and "heads up" content from Juice into Blogs. So Blogs are shorter, more casual posts that are somewhat perishable. Articles are longer (1500+ words) are more formal and intended to be long-term knowledge.
Blogs
I really don't like the title of "blog". IMHO it should have a different name. Blog is really not accurate for one, and it doesn't do enough to distinguish itself from ordinary forum posts.
And if it's perishable, it wasn't valuable in the first place. I think helpful knowledge will be input as blogs, and then perish at some point - which is not desired if something is valuable.
Subscription turned on by default??
Is subscribing turned on by default? If so why.. I just noticed a bunch of emails from others replying, after I had replied and I never told it to subscribe to this post.
RE: Blogs and Articles
I should also say that part of the reason we kept blogs and articles separate has to do with future plans for the content. We have considered turning the articles into a wiki - making it a true knowledge repository that is editable by all community members. The blogs would continue to be quick hits that don't necessarily need further refinement from other community members.
It is by no means decided that's the direction we will go, but it is something we are considering so we wanted to keep our options open by segmenting the content.
As always, we are learning so all this feedback is helpful. We'll try to adjust as appropriate as time goes on to meet your needs.
bring the voting point scale back.
I really miss the lime green too! This gray is drab any borning. It should be visually appealing.
Change the text color, Their should be a different color in the text and/or background color of the voting bar. It needs to break up the replies/comments between members. Comments appear to be joined.
I would be careful about the
I would be careful about the all articles can be edited by anyone approach, let it be an optional flag or let the creator approve changes, I use my articles here as reference for work and they go out to customers of SWV sometimes to help resolve issues and I don't want to have to worry every time I come here or send a link to someone if the information is still correct. I could just send word docs but I like to let people know that this community exists but I couldn't do that anymore if I wasn't sure if what I wrote was still there, most of my articles are things I work on with the product and represent my knowledge on the feature. This is the same reason we never used the Virtualization Wiki (the one where people reported if an app would capture in SVS) on the old juice internally, either for our own use or for customers asking questions, we just couldn't trust the information nor could we spend the time verifying it.
If a forum post solves your problem please flag is as the solution
I you like an article, blog post or download vote it up
On Blogs
I'm sure you're planning something like this Peter but I'm going to bring it up anyway, with Blogs are you planning on making a default URL for each user if they have an active blog? so, for example, Ohzone is posting and I can go to just one place and see all of her posts like how a traditional blog works. While I think the forum like methods is ok for finding new stuff it's a pain if you just want to follow specific people.

Bring back the old juice!
I second some other comments about not having the 10 or so articles on the first page. For those with slight attention deficit disorder here (you know who you are) it really made it easy to find those "gems" as another commenter posted. Please reconsider the new format and include those great articles on the front page where they belong!
Recent Articles on Landing Page
A few of you have asked about the "Recent Items" on the landing page. If you go to the Endpoint Management & Virtualization community you'll see the 10 most recent items right under the featured item.
threaded view of comments
Can we get a threaded view back of the comments? So we could now who and what we are replying to?
Thanks ;)

No to editable articles
Articles shouldn't be able to be edited by everyone. The person who wrote the article is the one with the expertise in the system. This would also possiblly allow for drive by editing and spaming. Especially if you grant points for editing an article.
Blogs would be cool, if they were indeed blogs about Symantec products or even some form of agregation of other blogs written by Symantec employees, customers or partners. Otherwise blogs should be renamed to make more sense. This was something I pointed out in the review of the site.

Is the voting still limied to 5 votes/day for points or ??
Back on the old juice site we were limited to 5 votes/day for points. Are we still limited to that? If so why would I vote on comments instead of voting on articles/tips/etc?
A lot of this just doesn't make sense sorry to say so

Autosubscribe Notifications Turned Off
Hi setral,
We wrestled a bit with the notification system a month ago (remember when some of the users complained about getting 100's of notifications?).
At that point we turned automatic notifications off. Somehow in the migration shuffle, this setting was turned back on.
We've changed that setting back so you won't get notifications unless you specifically ask for them.
HTH,
Kevin
Vote 'till you Drop!
Hi jjesse,
Users can can vote as much as they like (on comments and on other content types).
We still only award points for the first 5 votes cast in a given 24-hour period.
I personally like the idea of voting on comments (especially when it comes to threads in a forum post). It gives me a quick way to see if the community thinks the comment is worth reading.
Thanks,
Kevin
One of the nice things about the old juice...
Was the ability to go back in a linear fashion. I have many times come across an article by casually reading at home and the next day or two been at work and wanted to implement or test something that I saw. The ability ti click on page 2 or 3 at the bottom of the page was invaluable and superior to searching, especially if there was more than one useful article on a given page.
Hi just a pity the link http://juice.altiris.com/ not working
Hello, sure the new design not so bad as soon as we will take some time to understand & change our old usual. No such change in the content management, more in the presentation... I just search some "help", or explanation, and find some old obsolete articles...
A few pleople will also loose their bookmark: http://juice.altiris.com/
Should Symantec to keep it on.
Well I have also probably a stupid question: I do not find answer: What is the meaning of the 0 to 5 red part of this Camembert close each user ??? Why I go 2, other get 5? Not seems to be related to the "awards points"... Perhaps the numbers of contributions?
Thanks for the migration steps where I do not loose any data from the "GUASF" user group I manage. ;-)

Not any more "find user" capabilities ?
Except using "create a message" from "inbox" & got the luck to remember the start of the alias... Well, connect on Linkedin, Symantec does not connect users (except after joining a user group :-). Well if you speach french (yes that's why my horrible english, sorry), just join us on the www-secure.symantec.com/connect/groups/groupe-des-utilisateurs-daltiris-suisses-francophones

I agree, juice.altiris.com
I agree, juice.altiris.com should still redirect--it's a trival thing to do and there's still a lot of marketing out in the wild (from things like Managed Fusion) for that URL.

Redirects from Juice
Jordan, redirects from juice.altiris.com are in place. You may want to talk to your local IT team -- I've heard from a few Symantec employees who say the DNS server in their local office has not been refreshed with the new naming information.
where can I set the time to
where can I set the time to my own time zone?
why dont you get rid of the 24hr wait to get points for new votes and just have a reset time.
thanks for the short video
I have been having a hard time figuring out what was a blog and what was a article. Thanks for the heads up.
