Yeah, that does those of us who run flash free a lot of good. Where am I again apple.com?
When I search google for a forum link...
I don't want to see this welcome screen. I want to to go right to the forum disucssion I clicked on!
How do I get to...
https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=115&message.id=10581
I would guess a lot of people use google to search for the issues they are having and these links no longer seem to work (I tried searching the forums for the same phrase but it returns no result!)
No good
This is no good. How do I find the SEP 11.0 Forum?
After I log in I can no longer access the forum post
After I log in I cannot access the following forum post. I just redirected back to the "Connect" home page.
https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?b...
@craig - Go to "Security"
@craig - Go to "Security" click "Forums" and filter by Endpoint Protection, Version 11.
@Peter McMonagle - We are re-indexing the site right now. You can try the search again shortly from Connect and it will likely appear. Google is also indexing the site and their index will catch up shortly to point to the new location.
When I click on the "View
When I click on the "View Article..." link in the RSS feeds, they just take me to the Welcome page. The articles I am looking for are not showing up if I follow the links you describe.
@craig - Are you looking for
@craig - Are you looking for articles or forum posts? If you give me an example of what you are looking for I'll try to point you in the right direction.
Where is this one?
https://forums2.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=endpoint_protection11&message.id=27019#M27019
@craig - we're having some
@craig - we're having some problems with the redirection code. I've found that the redirection usually works if you log out of Connect. Go to the top right of the page, hover over the "me" text and choose logout. Then try your link again.
We should have this fixed shortly. Thanks for being patient.
I'm loving the new site!
I'm loving the new site! Great work!
Google search
When I search Google for Symantec answers, the only way the forum links work is if I use a cached link. Yet another way Symantec is responsive to their clients... NOT.
Flash Video
@burningtower: Thanks for your feedback!
Sorry you don't like the use of flash video on the site.
We worked to choose a medium that is used by the majority of our users. According to Adobe, flash has a substantial following (99% of Internet-enabled PCs). A few of our other options were .wmv (75%) and .mov (65%) but they seemed to serve a smaller percentage of our users.
Must say, the video was
Must say, the video was helpful.
What I'm wondering is the people who are not very technical come to this site for a single question might be a little over whelmed by it and may end up posting in the wrong place and never get the answer they need.
Looks to be an intresting few months.
By the way, are you going to
By the way, are you going to create some additional "how to" videos that show us how to create videos or downloads?
Lots of bugs
In addition to the poor page layout - it's not 1995 any more you know, CSS layouts which occupy the full page width are fine in this day and age and 800px-fixed-rez layouts are just silly - and having 4 completely useless toolbars chewing up the precious vertical resolution and numerous other layout silliness, the most severe problems are outright bugs.
Aside from the failure to redirect from our old - published in our product, incidentally, for several years - forum URL, the new forums contain absolutely no RSS message syndication of any kind. In the last round of incompetence where the original Veritas forums were replaced with the worthless Lithium system you are now replacing, we already lost the full-thread syndication that is standard for most Internet forum systems, and now after having struggled through that disaster are we are now losing forum syndication completely? If so, this is going to seriously reduce our team's ability to support our customers even further.
In addition I note that uploading a picture on the profile page is broken (it complains that the e-mail is already registered), the "personal contact" page for users appears to be completely inaccessible, there does not seem to be a way to turn off personal messaging for forum accounts as we could for the Lithium forums (where they were worse than useless because of no new message notification).
Edit: oh yes, one more thing. It would be useful if we had not lost the identification of Symantec employees. Since our development and QA teams posted very extensively on our product forum it was extremely useful for us to be able to distinguish official reponses from end-user ones.
Edit^2: more bugs, on the download creation page the "Participation Guidelines" link to www-secure.symantec.com/guidelines is a 404 and the "Terms of Service" link to www-secure.symantec.com/legal gives an authentication dialog from "Sun Java System Web Server" that doesn't accept SymAccount credentials.
In addition, I see that I actually still have my Juice account visible here as well, which is registered with the same e-mail as the SymAccount I was previously using with the Lithium boards, so be aware that collisions of account IDs are happening and it's not clear how to resolve them (ideally by unifying the accounts somehow).
Why oh why have you changed this site??
The old STN forums worked really well. I know you've got issues at the moment, but that's not alot of help for us guys who need information quickly.
The new site at the moment is next to useless.
Where do I get help now that this site is broken?
I need help with this error:
Unscannable File Rule (User defined action failed - Deny Access used instead)
It's randomly happening on my Exchange 2000 server to all sorts of things... and I have no idea why. I strongly suspect the scanner is giving up too soon, but I can't tell.. and the support forums here are now functionally dead.
Ugh!
No idea why they changed everything
Commenting as an "old" juice user I echo all the frustrations and concerns of the STN people coming to this "new" and "improved' way of doing things. I find myself reading and posting a lot less on the site because of its lack of user friendliness.
None of my suggestions in the usuability study were taken into consideration, but I guess that was to be expected.

Am I missing something or maybe your aren't done yet?
This has thown me off a bit. From the old forum where I new I was looking at SEP 11 content to a new...whatever it is.. where much of the content from the old forum is missing.
Forum names are a bit misleading for products that aren't just AV, but contain a bit of everything.
Search capabilities, seem to be lacking. Search based on author?
I seen entries in Endpoint Security version 11 that talk about other products.
I can only conclude that the migration between sites is not complete yet. When will it be done?
Thank you,
Links from Support Knowledge Base Don't Work
As stated by other users I don't want to see this welcome screen. I want to to go right to the forum disucssion I clicked on! I have not been able to find the links I am looking for by searching here.
How do I see what has been posted since I last read?
The new forum front-end is nice and all, but with no way to tell which threads I have posted in, or which threads have new posts since my last visit, I am unlikely to continue contributing. Taking time to assist other people is something I do because I enjoy being helpful, but if your forum doesn't include the most basic of functionalities I won't be able to contribute much any more. What a shame.
Duplicate Email Addresses
@Nigel Bree -- thanks for the list Nigel. Our developers are fixing issues as quickly as they can. I wasn't aware of the error about the email address (probably caused because of dual accounts as you suggested). We'll look into this ASAP.
Is it just me?
I may just be out of control with the mouse, but I find myself constantly activating the 'Inside Symantec' drop down. Most likely users are going to be clicking 'Forum' or 'Articles' on here the most so would it make sense to maybe align that box further to the left or right? At a minimum at least space it out a little more. Or even make it so you have to click it versus a mouse over.
Most users will probably be sticking to one product line within that box. Does it make sense to have one of the less frequently used pieces right above some of the most frequently used?
Over the last week things have improved and I am starting to get familiarized with the layout better, but that damn box that keeps popping up!
You have to creep up on it.
You have to creep up on it. Auto dropdowns are useless they only add frustration not function. My vote is that this "feature" defect be removed. Thanks for all the things that have been fixed so far keep up the good work.
Also does any one know how to delete a post that they have created? I can edit it but not remove it.
If you find this post helpful please give it a thumbs up!
If you find that this solves your problem please mark it as the solution!
Forum Search is Totally Useless
What an appalling search engine. I have this message in my Backup Exec Log
when backing up System?State.
I searched here for every combination that could be relevant and got thousands of irrelevant hits. I couldn't easily go forwards and backwards in the discussion.
I eventually tried google and in short order ended up at
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/303664.htm
which told me it's a known problem.
Where's the Symantec Mail Security Forum?
I had a bookmark to the Symantec Mail Security Groupware Peer to Peer discussion forum but it is not working any more. Where did this forum go?
https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board?board.id=Groupware
what does circle means which appears next to our name
Hi,
in Connect, a circle with 5 parts appears after name.
definately it shows your time period with altiris, but is it on how long you are its member or how much one has contibuted to it.
can some one tell in detail...

If a forum post solves your problem, please flag it as a solution. If you like an article or blog post vote for it.
This new forum make its difficult to contribute
Its hard to contrinute in this new "forum"
Please don´t use a blog design in a forum. Forum has its own proben and tested design. Blog design are not made forum. This only point should make you downgrade.
All my previous subscriptions are marked as new, even there are months since the last post.
Its hard to reach the SEP11 forum, one of the most used forums.
In Security community you can not select SEP 11.x, the dropdown menus are not working today, he
From a post you find in the internet o receive a notification via email, you can not go back the forum. Its says it was filled under Security and Enpoint but there is no link. You have to start over, login, make some clicks and maybe you can go to that forum.
If you want this to be a blog, you will get that. Fewer readers, fewer posts, fewer solutions, fewer credibilty.

circle explanation
@arjain
The circle after users name is a visual representation of the contributions that user has made to the community. You can see a full explanation here.
breadcrumbs????
So where's the ability to GO BACK to where you were, or the main list of topics once you create a new topic or REPLY to an existing one?
You are left in that topic - no way to get back to the main SEP "forum".
Breadcrumbs, ALL GOOD FORUMS have them.
Blogs are for bloggers and kids, we are professionals and need a professional looking, feeling and operating forum format.
Either way, please add the breadcrumbs again!
mainforum->security->SEP->topicyouarein
that way I can simply CLICK on the word SEP and go right back to the main list of SEP related items, or even back up one level to security.
So what I have to do now is right-click and "open in new tab" then when done, close that tab to be back at the main SEP list of topics.

New Forum Format Sucks
I'm all for trying new things and commend you on your efforts, however, the new forum format is horrible. Please get rid of it and go back to the tried and true, easy to use, highly functional, de-facto industry-standard forum format. Thanks.
Oh Please
It took you a year to come up with this? :(
...and you didn't finish porting the historical data into the new yet?
Gosh... wish I had your job... getting paid for taking a step backward.
So now my boss wants to know why I cant find the symantec information that I'm looking for.
I'm very dissapointed... I have to re-learn and adapt... again...
Thank goodness google has cached a lot of the info. Thank you google.
Tried it for a couple of days
Have come to the conclusion that the new forum format is a giant leap backwards.
Sure, there were a few problems with the old forums, but the entire design and concept behind these new ones is awfull.
Setting aside that it's full of bugs (which I assume you will eventually fix), the design makes almost everything I want out of a community forum difficult to accomplish...
Marks out of 10 = 0.5
Very disappointed in the new
Very disappointed in the new layout. It's extremely hard to navigate through it and it still doesn't keep me logged in!
Posting new message should give you the option to preview before it posts them so I don't have to keep editing it. Also, after making a new post there should be a link somewhere that takes me back to the forum I was currently in. The only option I can find it back going back to the main section and then finding the forum I was in again.
Blogs.....what's the point?
Also very disappointed with the new format
I'm really not excited about this new format. There is too much going on, on the home page.
I don't see the video...
I don't see the video...
Changing paddles
You took an easily navigated area and changed paddles when you did not need to.
It is a flub.
I don't like the new the old one was much better
The previouse site was much better.
Search Engine too simplistic
Hi
When are they going to have a comprehensive search engine like the old STN forums?
RE: Search Engine too simplistic
Jim-m - we're making tweaks to the search engine in the short-term that should help. In addition, we are evaluating a couple of different options that will make more dramtic changes as time goes on. PM me with any specific requests that you'd like to see in search and I'll make sure they are on our list!
Find your way around in
Find your way around in Connect can become much simpler than what it's right now.
that is a nice VDO. keep it
that is a nice VDO. keep it up
but you should describe about the download, groups and ideas as you described about the blog and articles in your VDO
Any comment will be appreciated. Mark as Solution if your query is resolved
