A Well Managed Client is a Secure Client

Jul 22, 2010 05:32 PM

During Symantec Vision Las Vegas 2010, I demonstrated a few examples of how Intel vPro Technology combined with Symantec Management Platform make "a well managed client a secure client"

The video below is a demonstration of items explained earlier.   For the "how to" - see Accessing Files of a Remote Inoperable Client PC and Part 1: Using Network Filtering to Enhance Your Security Control

Otherwise - just enjoy the video demonstrating the Remote Drive Share (combined with Symantec Endpoint Protection) and Custom Network Filtering (allowing restricted\controlled network connectivity)

The opinions expressed on this site are mine alone and do not necessarily reflect the opinions or strategies of Intel Corporation or its worldwide subsidiaries.

See http://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-4785

Remote Drive Share is a small Linux ISO which is delivered via Intel vPro Technology IDE-Redirection.... what I commonly call boot redirection.   The Linux ISO includes drivers to access NTFS partitions along with a Samba server to expose the partitions as a fileshare.   Then you are able to map to the drive over the network.

Hope that helps.

Hi Terry,

Thank you  or this amazing information, and detailed explanation. Just a qucik question....In the first  demonstration, you first  powered on the  remote  laptop, from the  Endpoint  Management  console...How  did you get  access to the drives? and what was the  purpose of transferring the  ISO image to it?

Thank you again...
