I created a TaskServer Script that uses CDO.Message to send the email however, I can't pick it as the task to run unde the policies action tab. What's the trick?

I too am looking for a way to do custom token's or at least use he MonitoredResourceGuid within the SMP tokens.

For instance, I have a primary and secondary ownerships assigned to all my servers. I want to use this info to notify the owner of the box if there is an issue. I created the following TOKEN below thinking it would do the trick. Unfortunatly, this token only returns the owner of the task server and not the owner of the machine with an issue.

Could you post an example of your work around?

PS Notice the fancy STUFF function just to concat the two emails because SMP tokens don't like +

Select
 CASE
WHEN pu.Email IS NULL THEN 'ServerTeam@Domain.com'
WHEN su.Email IS NULL THEN pu.Email
  ELSE STUFF(Replace(pu.email,'.com','.com; ;'), LEN(Replace(pu.email,'.com','.com; ;')),1,su.email)
 END AS EMAILS
From vComputer cmp
LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.Inv_ACAS_Role AS rl
  ON CMP.Guid = rl._ResourceGuid
 LEFT JOIN [dbo].[Inv_Naming_Convention_Details] AS NC
  ON rl.Symbol = NC.Symbol AND NC._ResourceGuid = 'A9F7D44E-0E40-4D0C-8077-E2F5569CD77D'
LEFT JOIN vUser AS PU ON PU.Guid = NC.[Primary Owner]
 LEFT JOIN vUser AS SU ON SU.Guid = NC.[Secondary Owner]and SU.Email
Where cmp.Guid = '%COMPUTERID%'

Hello Ryan,

This is still on the roadmap, some ways around this is to use a vbscript tasks that pulls the tokens and data you need and then the output of the vbscript is an email.  several customers used this as a workaround for now and have been able to pull the data required into the email.

Is there any rough date for when custom tokens might be supported? I know custom tokens are supported within SMP but any custom SMP tokens used from with a monitor task use the GUID of the task server on which they run, because the task is server based, which isn't helpful if you want to include other machine specific information in alerts. I can give a specific example if that is helpful but it seems like there would have to be custom monitor tokens as well as SMP tokens since they behave differently. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Hello John,

It is correct that BESR 2010 is not part of server management suite 7.1.  BESR 2010 is a backup product. You mentioned imaging which is different than backup.  Within Server Management Suite 7.1 it includes Deployment Solution 7.1 which has both rdeploy and ghost imaging engines that can be used to image and provision your servers.

Please let me know if this helps clarify your question.

Kind Regards,

Can you tell me if there is a way to image servers on the server management suite 7.1 I was told that i would be able to image my server as a imaging solution but now my acct rep told me you cant because besr 2010 is not a part of the Altiris 7.1 deployment is that true that besr 2010 not a part of this.

Hi AJ,

Please screenshot below on two RMS Polling Servers monitoring a single resource which is also being monitored using the Monitor Plug-in.

Here is where you can select which method to view the resource metrics, either choose the Agent or RMS 1(EndpointServer) or RMS 2(ITMS7).

Below is where you can see the endpoint be polled by both RMS Polling Servers.  Also you can see the Max, Min and Avg values along with a period of no connectivity due to configuration updates.

Hope this helps

No Problem.  I am checking up on the custom tokens but I do not believe we included the ability of custom tokens yet but that is on the roadmap.  Other customers have got around this using a VB tasks that creates and uses the custom tokens, trying to get a copy of it to share here to make it an easier step.

Many thanks for the feedback, always looking to improve more and more.

Thanks for the info on RMS.

It is great that we will now be able to assign any task to a monitor policy.  With that change will we now also be able to use custom tokens referenced within tasks assigned to a monitor policy?

Monitor Solution has improved significantly since the 6.x days and it keeps getting better with every new release.

Hi AJ,

Many thanks for the feedback and always great to get some feedback on the new features and fixes we are delivering.

In regards to your question on the RMS, by default it is integrated into Site Services so when you setup sites and subnets it will use that list of resources assigned to the site server.  For the highly available or redundant scenario it is also possible to manually configure and assign resources to the site server.  I have this setup scenario in my lab and always happy to show you how it works.

Also we have a few more additions not in the video which is when adding an existing task within the policy the list of available tasks will be all of the tasks and not just the monitor specific tasks so no need to duplicate tasks.

again many thanks for your feedback.

Joseph, I am pleased to see that you added the ability to have multiple remote monitoring servers.  Can the remote monitoring servers be configured to be highly available or redundant?

I couldn’t be more pleased that you added the CPU usage percentage for process data back to the Historical Performance Viewer.  We will use that field often to help us troubleshoot problems.

The ability to customize the Event Console view using filters is also hugely beneficial.

I also liked that you can now reconnect to a system within the Real-Time Performance Viewer.  That is a nice new feature.

Great stuff!  Thanks for sharing the video.
