I have my maintenace pruging set to delete all DB records if they have not checked in within the last 3 months. However when I run a report for the last check-in date for the client I can a ton of machines that have not checked in for quite some time, in some cases over a year ago. Am I missing something with this?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Check the status of those computers. Can it be that they are not "active" anymore or actually not managed by this NS?

Computers to purge are determined by a stored procedure called dbo.spGetComputersToPurge and that will only purge computers where the "ismanaged" column returns 1.

Automatically deleting resources which status is not "active" is rather challanging as there is no task to actually delete resources.

In the past I've been using either workflow solution to do the deletion or built up an "internal" connector with connector solution which merges all computers based on status "retired" into one resource and then manually deleted that resource (saves a lot of clicking ;) ).

Yes, that was exactly what was happening. Computers were purge previously and set to just be retired. Doing the above simplified removing the unmanaged computers.

One other interesting thing I found in the process. It is now reporting that I have 8300 managed machines but only 5800 licenses being used. I dont understand that??

Which licenses are you refering to (Inventory, Patch, etc)? Each solution has their own license count and also a difference in "decision making" how a license is being consumed.

All of them. Patch, Inventory, Software Management Solution, Deployment... all are at or around 5800.

Can you please check the status of the machines which are not consuming a license?

Usually those machines are not ACTIVE anymore, thus do not consume a license.
