hi,

can I install a ManagedMediaServer manually and connect to the CAS later?

I have always done a Push-Installation. But now the Internetconnection to the Remote MMS isn't very good and disconnects sometimes...

Hi,

Absolutely...it is a normal installation of BE and any licenses, and then join it to the CASO through BE itself, or using BEutility.exe (I prefer the latter).

Thanks!

Yes you can do! While installing media server software you would need to choose Managed Media Server Option.

Thanks!

I think i've found the task.

Now I have to wait while transfering the install-sources... 16 hours...

...which task? Installing BE first and then adding to the CASO later?

Or adding it to the CASO during the installation?

Hello,

I found the CASO-Task in BEUtility on another MMS.

So if adding it during the installation failed, I have a second chance.

Thanks

Hello,

the MMS has succesfully connected to the CAS. Now I have to configure the jobs...

What happens, when the connection to the CAS is broken?

Either the CASO server needs to be bought up online, else you'll have to convert the MMS to a stand-alone server till the time CAS is up & running.

Hi,

the CAS is in Germany and this MMS in FarEast. Maybe the internetconnection isn't very good.

While there is no admin in FarEast, we will manage and check the backup centrally.

Isn't this the right solution?

The network connection has to be stable...In case, the CAS-MMS communication breaks down, you'll have to restore the communications, else there can be multiple issues.

Andreas: Communication break-downs aren't an issue except when logging onto the CASO and finding this out. This isn't an issue UNLESS you centralise your catalogs and data on the CASO. In this case, the MMS dies until comms are restored.

Localised or replicated Data/catalogs doesn't matter...the server appears down but continues to work.

Thanks for the answers.

I will test the backups with an stable connection and also with an manually interruption.
