Who really needs my personal details?
Not many people you deal with over the Internet really need much of your personal information.
- Be suspicious of people's motives online when sharing your personal information via email or the Internet.
- Don't fall for emails pretending to be from your bank - the bank knows your password, you don't need to confirm it.
- delete the email and call the bank if you're worried.
- Many web sites ask for a large amount of personal information in order for you to gain full access. Be sparing with these kinds of details, only provide what you really need to.
- Before you disclose anything, ask yourself: Why do they need to know?
