Not many people you deal with over the Internet really need much of your personal information.

Be suspicious of people's motives online when sharing your personal information via email or the Internet.
Don't fall for emails pretending to be from your bank - the bank knows your password, you don't need to confirm it.
delete the email and call the bank if you're worried.
Many web sites ask for a large amount of personal information in order for you to gain full access. Be sparing with these kinds of details, only provide what you really need to.
Before you disclose anything, ask yourself: Why do they need to know?
