Managing Corporate Responsibility

We consider the security of information central to corporate responsibility in this digital age of increased exposure. We leverage our employees’ specialized skills to make the digital world a safer place to work and play, raising awareness of cyber issues and contributing resources to our communities.
As a company engaged in providing services with significant societal benefit, Symantec is committed to conducting our business with attention to and respect for ethical operation, the environment, and positive societal impact. Our corporate responsibility platform is organized into three key pillars:
  • Our People, which includes employee satisfaction, talent management, and diversity and inclusion
  • Your Information, which includes cybersecurity, online safety, and privacy
  • The World, which includes climate change, supply chain, and community investment
We set clear expectations for ethical and responsible operation at the very top. Our senior managers receive regular corporate responsibility briefings, including quarterly updates on diversity, ethics, and community investment. The Nominating and Governance Committee of our Board of Directors has oversight of corporate responsibility issues.
Our Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, serves as the central coordinator for all corporate responsibility efforts. The Vice President works to establish strategic direction and develop specific programs and initiatives across the company in partnership with the senior management team. Symantec employees are kept informed of corporate responsibility programs and initiatives through a variety of channels, including website content, intranet postings, blogs, executive speeches, the Philanthropy Steering Committee, Community Relations Committees, Green Teams, multiple surveys, external outreach, and a quarterly newsletter, the Corporate Responsibility Snapshot. All of these actions promote a culture of responsibility, where every employee is empowered to contribute to our long-term success.
Employees and other stakeholders are also encouraged to provide feedback and engage in dialogue through many channels including the Symantec corporate responsibility website, the CR In Action blog, multiple surveys and committees, the corporate responsibility reporting process, and external outreach.
