Information Assurance Cost/Risk Planning Program


INFORM is a vendor-neutral program that can help your organization manage risks to information security and availability (information assurance), and the associated costs. INFORM objectively evaluates the investment in a particular information assurance solution by comparing the potential reduction in risk exposure to the solution’s cost.






Managing information assurance is challenging. You need to determine the optimal spending level, and in what areas your investment will be most effective. Under-investing makes you vulnerable, but spending too much on unnecessary products or features wastes resources. INFORM delivers realistic decision support in a consultative environment. The Web-based application:
  • captures and gives a monetary value to risks
  • benchmarks your current information assurance program effectiveness against the ISO 17799 (2005 edition) global standard for information security management--identifies program gaps, and highlights areas needing improvement
  • presents several “what if” scenarios for program improvements, including costs and benefits
  • creates a prioritized action plan you can follow to make targeted improvements and optimize spending
