Email Security.cloud

Issue/Introduction

Resolution

Before your account is activated with Symantec.cloud Email Services, the IP addresses, mail hosts, and domain names you enter in the Domains wizard must pass a series of technical checks. If the technical checks complete successfully, your domains are then added to the Symantec.cloud Email Services infrastructure.

Symantec.cloud carries out the following technical checks:

  • The IP addresses and Mailhost names that are defined for the route are valid.
  • The IP addresses and Mailhost names that are defined for the route are not on a public spam block list.
  • Connectivity with the Symantec.cloud Email Services infrastructure.

If a technical check fails, you are asked to make the changes necessary to remedy the issue so that the services can be activated. The technical checks that are performed depend on the information provided.

Any IP address must pass technical checks before we register the default inbound route for your organization. When you add an SMTP inbound route, Requested Inbound Routes lists the routes we need to check before registration.

To check a new default route without registering it

  1. Log in to the Symantec.cloud console.
  2. Click Services > Email Services > Inbound Routes.
  3. In the Registered Inbound Routes section, click Check New.
  4. Enter the route to check.
  5. Enter an email address to which the results of the technical check can be sent.
    • The email address you provide here is only used to receive the technical check report; it is not used for any other purposes.
    • Allow up to five minutes for the email to be sent.
    • If a test fails, you are asked to make the necessary changes to remedy the issue.
