Issue/Introduction
What does the Patch Management Software Update Plug-in check to see if a reboot is required?
Environment
Patch Management Solution 7.5.x, 7.6.x and 8.x
Resolution
The check for this is found on the Client at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Patch Management - 'RebootRequired' with a value of (1):
If the value is (0) then no reboot is required.
Additional Notes:
This registry key will not be populated for manually installed updates. The reg key is only created when the Patch Management Solution installs an update that requires a reboot.
This registry key is not displayed until an update requiring a reboot is applied. Then the registry key is created. The Reboot Schedule will reboot the machine with a command for Windows to reboot on the scheduled time.
This registry key is removed from the Client's registry following a reboot by the Software Update Plug-in.
