Symantec Enhances Specialisations for Channel Partners in APJ

New benefits and tools for SMB and Endpoint Management Specialisations Provide More Growth Opportunities

Asia Pacific and JapanNovember 2, 2009 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) announces enhanced benefits and go-to-market tools to strengthen its Small and Medium Business (SMB) and Endpoint Management Specialisations program for channel partners in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). These Specialisations are designed to recognise and reward the expertise of partners in the SMB and Endpoint Management markets to help them stay competitive and grow revenue. The benefits include rebates, technical support, additional training resources, exclusive listing on the Symantec Partner Locator and access to a range of other resources.

“With the growing competition in the market, our channel partners want the opportunity to differentiate their solutions and services through highly specialised skills, experience and knowledge in specific business and technology segments,” said David Dzienciol, Symantec’s vice president for Channels and SMB, Asia Pacific and Japan. “These two Specialisations form a core part of our commitment to develop programs that will drive the success of our channel partners, recognising their commitment to selling Symantec solutions, and enabling them to leverage and continue to grow in their areas of expertise.”

Growing in the SMB Market
SMBs are an important part of the economy in this region offering opportunities for channel partners with skills, experience and knowledge in this market to grow their business. The Symantec SMB Specialisation is for partners who have demonstrated proficiency in understanding the unique requirements of SMB customers, and have proven knowledge of Symantec SMB products, including Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition, Backup Exec System Recovery, Backup Exec and Symantec Protection Suites.

Symantec’s 2009 SMB Security and Storage Survey found that 52 percent of SMBs in APJ have previously suffered a security breach and the risk of suffering a recurring security breach is higher in the APJ region than in other regions around the world. In addition, the 2009 SMB Disaster Preparedness Survey found a large discrepancy between how SMBs in APJ perceive their disaster readiness and their actual level of preparedness.

“Many SMBs are looking for trusted partners to help them create plans, implement automated protection solutions and monitor for trends and threats,” added Dzienciol. “Channel partners who have strong experience in technologies and solutions for SMBs will be able to establish themselves as trusted advisors and work together with their customers to determine policies, procedures and best practices in securing and managing critical information.”
