SYDNEY, Australia – May 30, 2012 – Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that Brenton Smith is to be appointed Managing Director, Symantec Australia Pty Ltd, and Vice President, Pacific region, Symantec. This follows the decision by Craig Scroggie to pursue some of his other business interests outside of the company.
Brenton joined Symantec a year ago as Vice President for the Symantec.cloud business across Asia Pacific and Japan based in Singapore. Brenton has 20 years' experience in the IT industry having held a number of senior leadership roles at a range of multi-national firms including BusinessObjects, Siebel Systems, Brightstar Information Technology Group and SAP. Prior to joining Symantec, Brenton was Managing Director for CA Technologies in Australia and New Zealand.

With Brenton's transition to this new role, the Symantec.cloud organisation will move into the Asia Pacific and Japan Strategic Sales group led by Bjorn Engelhardt.
The Asia Pacific and Japan Channels and SMB portfolios which were recently added to Brenton's remit will be led in the interim by Bernard Kwok.
Note: Effective date of new appointment as managing director of Symantec Australia Pty Ltd is pending completion of legal documentation. This is expected to be complete within the next few weeks.
