Search Help

To enter a query, simply type in a few descriptive words and hit the 'search' button for a list of relevant content.
  • Choosing the right search terms is the key to finding the information you want. Use specific keywords and avoid general terms. For example, CodeRed produces better results than worm.
  • Usually more terms will provide more relevant results, with fewer results returned.
  • Enter keyword phrases, rather than single words. For example, virus removal tools produces better results than remove.
  • Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms (for example, "virus removal tools") to search for an entire phrase. This will generally reduce the number of results returned.
  • If you misspell a word in your search terms, our spellcheck function may suggest an alternate spelling. Click on this spelling to search for the properly spelled word.
  • You may search the English language collection by clicking on the link to the right of the search results (Execute this search in our English language collection).
  • Your search terms are bolded so you can tell at a glance whether the result is a page you want to visit.
  • Capitalization of search terms is ignored. For example, a search for george washington will return documents containing George Washington, george Washington, and george washington.
  • Searches are performed on the exact terms you enter into the search box. We do not use stemming or wildcard operators.
  • If you have too many results, try adding words to your query.
  • If you have too few results, try omitting words from your query.
