CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 21, 2005 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced that it was recognized by VARBusiness magazine as one of North America's top information-technology (IT) vendors in terms of the breadth and depth of its channel partner program. For the fourth consecutive year, Symantec received a Five-Star Rating, acknowledging the robust features of its partner program. Additionally, VARBusiness magazine named Allyson Seelinger, Symantec's vice president of global channel sales and strategy, as well as Randy Cochran, Symantec's vice president of Americas channel sales, to its list of the Top 75 Channel Executives.
"We applaud vendors like Symantec for their overall channel commitment and channel innovation," says VARBusiness Publisher, Robert C. DeMarzo. "Congratulations to Symantec's channel executives as well on being named to this year's list of the Top 75 Channel Executives. VARBusiness is proud to bestow this well-deserved honor on them given our magazine's role in highlighting outstanding executive and vendor performance in the channel today."
"Partners are critical to Symantec's success and we've built a world-class channel team and partner program to support them," said Tom Kendra, Symantec's vice president of worldwide sales. "With securing and managing the IT infrastructure becoming increasingly important, our partners have access to the broadest product portfolio, sales and technical training, and other resources to help them meet customer needs and grow their business."
To determine the most robust vendor partner programs and to determine those with a 5-star ranking VARBusiness invited IT vendors to submit their descriptions of their channel partner programs between November 2004 and January 2005. The programs were scored on breath and depth of program elements within each program. Results were tabulated by Answers Research, a Solana Beach, Calif.-based market research and consulting firm.
To become a member of the VARBusiness Top 75 Channel Executives, executives must demonstrate a long-term commitment to the channel, possess a strong connection to corporate leaders, serve as a channel evangelist inside their organization and demonstrate innovative channel-management strategies.
Both features appear in the March 21, 2005, issue of VARBusiness and are posted to the Web at www.VARBusiness.com.
