Symantec Offers Webcast On Security And The Application Development Lifecycle

CUPERTINO, Calif. - July 1, 2005 - Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced that it will host the third in a series of webcasts educating developers on strategies for identifying and addressing security problems throughout the application development lifecycle. The webcast, titled "Securing the Development Phase of the Application Development Lifecycle" will be held on Thursday, July 7, at 9:00 a.m. PDT. Attendees can register at https://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/

Paul Hinkle, principal security instructor at Symantec, will provide guidance to architects, developers, and QA engineers on applying a holistic approach to addressing security issues throughout development. This topic is of particular interest to developers who are responsible for securing code and are interested in learning about how security affects reusable security modules, authentication, and data validation.

"Application security should be top-of-mind for any developer as they continue to build more complex applications," said Hinkle. "By dealing with security issues early on in the development process, organizations can save time and resources, and drastically reduce the possible risks to sensitive information."
