Faced with a 50 percent compounded annual data growth rate and more than one petabyte of data, Singapore’s A*STAR Computational Resource Centre wanted better visibility into the heterogeneous storage environment it manages for its 18 member research institutes. In March 2008, A*STAR implemented a storage management and reporting solution from Symantec, with assistance from Symantec Consulting Services. Results include a 25 percent reduction in storage administration time, 30 terabytes of storage capacity reclaimed, faster management reporting, and the ability to produce customized usage reports to improve accountability among research institutes.
