MUMBAI, India - Nov 28, 2012 - On the occasion of World Computer Security Day, Symantec in association with CNBC TV 18 is hosting the i-Security Summit to discuss, debate and analyze security risks in the information economy and approaches to make the Internet safer for all. The i-Security Summit will be held on 30th Nov, 2012 at Golconda Hall, Hotel Trident, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
"Concerns about identity theft and fraud are keeping website visitors from transacting online in India. They need to be reassured the confidential information they share will be protected from malicious activity," said Sarabjeet Khurana, director, Website Security Solutions, Symantec in India. The i-Security Summit is a platform for businesses to understand how they can mitigate risks and increase customer confidence in transacting online."
As businesses in India see the opportunity to tap markets with online sales and account-based services, sophisticated Internet scams are eroding the trust that is essential to online consumer confidence. In 2011, the Symantec website malware scanning service scanned more than 8.2 billion URLs globally for malware infection and approximately 1 in 156 unique websites were found to contain malware. In August 2012 phishing attacks on Indian brands saw an increase of 25 per cent as compared to the previous month. All the Indian brands targeted were in the banking sector. Symantec advises companies to use rigorous SSL authentication to protect their businesses and customers.
The i-Security Summit will include panel discussions, keynote presentations from global information security experts and debates. It is an opportunity for Chief Information Officers, Chief Information Security Officers and security experts to gain insights into the pressing security concerns, understand the various approaches to address risk and network with leading security professionals. Speakers include Aruna Rao, CTO, Kotak Mahindra, Pavan Duggal, cyber law & e-commerce expert and advocate, Supreme Court of India, Sanjay Das, CTO and co-founder Symphony Fin Tech, Vivek Kulkarni, chairman and CEO, Brickwork India, Fran Rosch, vice president of Identity and Authentication Services, Symantec and Michael Campbell, global vice president, Website Security Solutions, Symantec.
