“When choosing security software, customers in the region want to be sure that they are getting the best protection for their organization,” says Bill Robbins, Symantec senior vice president, Asia Pacific and Japan. “Over the years Symantec has worked hard to establish itself as the trusted advisor on security to organizations large and small. Our strong track record, clear product roadmap and extensive network of channel partners throughout the region have contributed to our reputation as the vendor with which people would most like to do business.”
Amongst 278 respondents, 19.4 percent named Symantec as the security software vendor with the most innovative technology.
“Symantec’s focus on innovation is unwavering,” says Robbins. “We invest 15 percent of annual gross revenue on R&D, to provide industry-leading products and services that protect our customers from the latest threats and enable them to take advantage of tomorrow’s opportunities.”
“For vendors to do well in the security software market, market perception and mindshare are of critical importance,” says Willie Low, senior market analyst for IDC Asia/Pacific’s Infrastructure Software. “The security market is a fast-moving one, and vendors need to continuously keep their portfolios updated with strong and innovative technology.”
Best Software Licensing and Maintenance Support
The survey respondents also ranked Symantec as the vendor with the best licensing and maintenance support, with 18.3 percent of the votes.
The report on the survey findings suggests that vendors need to offer various flexible pricing and licensing options to suit a variety of customer needs. As the security software market in the region is relatively young, users may need more support, so it is critical for vendors and their channel partners to provide a strong network of helpdesk and maintenance support.
Vendor Respondents Would Most Like to Do Business With
Symantec also topped the ranks of vendor respondents would most like to do business with, chosen by 15.5 percent. The survey revealed that a good track record is the top consideration in choosing a security software vendor and customers prefer vendors with an established physical presence and maintenance and support networks in the region.
“As the security software market in Asia Pacific continues to grow, Symantec’s commitment to the region and reputation as an innovator, with strong licensing and maintenance support will stand the company in good stead as we continue to help our customers secure and protect their businesses,” continued Robbins.
