Symantec Announces Opening of Security Response Center in Singapore

First center to be established in ASEAN, enabling faster response to local and regional cyber threats

SINGAPORE – August 1, 2012 – Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced the opening of its new Security Response Center in Singapore. This new center is part of the global network of Symantec Security Response Centers and will strengthen Symantec's regional coverage to monitor the changing threat landscape. This will enable Symantec to better identify and analyze emerging Internet security threats, deliver protection and provide informed commentary on new trends observed in cyber attacks.

The Security Response Center in Singapore is part of the larger Symantec Security Response organization, comprising of a worldwide team of security engineers, threat analysts and researchers that provide the underlying functionality content and support for all Symantec corporate and consumer security products. At the heart of all of our products is the Symantec Global Intelligence Network, which is made up of more than 64.6 million attack sensors and records thousands of events per second. This network monitors attack activity in more than 200 countries and territories and tracks more than 47,662 recorded vulnerabilities from over 15,967 vendors representing over 40,006 products.

The Security Response Center in Singapore is the most recent addition to Symantec's global network of Security Response Centers located around the world, including Tokyo, Chengdu, Dublin and Culver City.
