Reading, United Kingdom – July 25, 2011 – Michael Williamson has been appointed Vice President of Consumer Marketing for Europe at Symantec. In this role, Williamson will lead the consumer marketing team in its goal to help consumers make their digital lives secure, whichever digital devices they use. Williamson will be responsible for all product marketing within Symantec’s Consumer Business Unit.
Taking on responsibility for customer acquisitions and propositions, customer value management and commercial trading across the PC, smartphone and tablet formats, Williamson’s team will own the go-to-market strategy and execution across all device formats, using all marketing channels for all European territories. Williamson will also lead the European growth of the Norton Everywhere “Beyond-the-PC” initiative, which will introduce new partnerships and product updates to help deliver Norton protection across locations, devices and digital experiences.
Most recently Head of Global Marketing, Customer Acquisitions at Vodafone, Michael also spent eight years at O2 UK, where his last role was Head of Pay-As-You-Go.
“I am delighted to be joining the world leader in consumer security, and look forward to building a strong relationship with our customers as they deal with the issues which the digital information explosion raises. We have an experienced and talented marketing team in Europe, and I will enjoy working with them to ensure our marketing campaigns speak directly to consumers, as well as maintaining our valued relationships with our marketing partners and improving their growth through new programmes.”
“It is an exciting time to join the Consumer Business Unit as our core security products continue to be industry-leading in threat detection and performance, and our Norton Everywhere initiative strategically leads the market in protecting customers wherever they are. The issue of cybercrime also continues to be a real threat to consumers’ valuable digital assets, whether they are personal or financial details, photos or music collections, and part of our role is to communicate the risks and educate people to protect themselves.” Williamson concluded.
Williamson’s team has recently been bolstered by the appointment of several new country managers: Shelagh McManus will lead the consumer marketing team for the UK and Ireland, Simone van Zuleyn will lead marketing in the Benelux region, Martin Munkner will lead the Nordics marketing team while Estelle Gibert leads French marketing.
