Which data we collect
As you create a Symaccount for your company activities, or as you register online for events, promotions, downloads or other activities (“Online Activities”) Symantec Corporation, 350 Ellis Street, Mountain View (CA), USA (“Symantec”) will collect and process your contact details, including your company, your telephone number, address, email and company information. By creating Symaccount and/or registering for Online Activities, you agree to and acknowledge such processing.
How we use the data
If you create a Symaccount, we use the data for the purpose of setting up and creating your Symaccount. We use your Symaccount credentials to provide one single login to the different Symaccount applications and to authenticate you every time you access Symaccount.
If you just register for any Online Activity or event without creating a Symaccount, we use the data you provide to enable and manage the activity you have registered for. Symantec may transfer your data to the following categories of recipients acting on behalf of Symantec for the above purposes. These recipients may be located in countries that have a lower level of data protection than that provided for in EEA countries and Switzerland.
These recipients are only permitted to use your data for the services or function for which they have been engaged, and in accordance with the applicable law. By supplying us with your data you confirm that you do not consider use of such data in accordance with this Privacy Notice to be a breach of any of your rights under any applicable law or regulation and you give your consent to the terms of this Privacy Notice.
If you check the relevant permission box, we and selected third parties on our behalf will use your contact information and the information about your interest in Symantec products and services for promotional use. Symantec, Symantec affiliates in the EEA and in the US, resellers in the EEA and in the US, may contact you by email, SMS, MMS and other electronic means.

Transfer of the data
The collection, use, process and transfer by Symantec of your data will be carried out in accordance with best standards and Symantec has taken steps to ensure that the collected data, if transferred outside of the EEA, receives an adequate level of protection as required by the EEA/Swiss data protection legislations. Providing the data is not mandatory
Providing your data is not mandatory, but if you do not provide it, we will not be able to complete your Symaccount registration or provide the service or product that you requested.
