Symantec presenterer ny sikkerhetstjeneste for forbrukere

Symantec kunngjorde i dag at selskapet utvikler neste generasjon sikkerhetstjenester for forbrukere. Prosjektet har arbeidstittelen Genesis og planlegges lansert til høsten. Den nye tjenesten er en strømlinjeformet sikkerhetsløsning som skal gi forbrukerne kontinuerlig oppdatert beskyttelse. Genesis vil integrere sømløst de beste løsningene fra Norton-produktene sammen med markedsledende sikkerhets og optimaliseringsteknologier. Tjenesten vil også omfatte online backup, nyskapende sikkerhetsteknologier som beskytter mot nye trusler som crimeware, phishing og falske nettsider. Symantecs nye tjeneste vil gi forbrukerne friheten til å gjøre hva de vil på internett og samtidig føle seg trygge. Forbrukerne kan se fram til enkel bruk og økt trygghet.

Security for online shopping and banking

Using its new patent-pending technology, Genesis will provide protection against the emerging dangers of crimeware, phishing scams and fraudulent websites designed to steal personal and financial information. This unique type of protection will restore consumer confidence in online banking and shopping by employing zero-hour threat technology acquired from Whole Security, Inc. Zero-hour threat protection provides an additional layer of non-signature, behavior-based security specifically looking for malicious code designed to steal personal information.

Continuous system protection for Web browsing, e-mail, instant messaging

Using proven antispyware, antivirus, firewall and intrusion prevention technology from the market leading Norton line of products, the Genesis service will protect computer systems against viruses, worms, spyware and all major types of security threats by staying continuously and quietly updated in the background.

Genesis will protect personal data from loss by automatically backing up valued digital content. Family photos, financial statements and other important documents could be identified by category to be routinely and automatically backed up by Genesis to an online site.

Based on Symantec’s 20-year history of creating the market-leading Norton SystemWorks, Genesis will automatically keep computer systems tuned-up and operating well, by running essential optimization and clean-up features in the background on a regular basis.

Availability

Genesis will be available to consumers this fall under the Norton brand for both the Windows XP and Windows Vista platforms. The price of the service will be available at the time of product delivery. An ongoing subscription fee will cover all updates and a designated amount of online storage for backup.
