What is an upgrade?

When you buy an upgrade, you are buying the newest version of the Norton product at a discounted price. You install this new product to replace your current product. If you buy an upgrade, your new version of the product includes its own subscription. You do not need to renew the subscription for your current version.

Should I renew or upgrade?

Both renewing your subscription or upgrading to the newest product version allows you to receive virus definitions and security updates for a year. New subscriptions are not available for all Norton products. Older versions may not have the option to renew. If your Norton product cannot renew its subscription, you must upgrade to keep your computer protected.
