Security 2.0: Building Confidence & Trust Online

What is Web 2.0 and Security 2.0?

Web 2.0 is a popular phrase that refers to the current version of the Internet that is perceived as a "second-generation" of Web-based communities and hosted services — such as social networking sites, wikis and file-sharing sites — that facilitate collaboration and sharing between users.
Security 2.0 is Symantec's concept that brings together an ecosystem of products, services, and partnerships to help customers remain confident in today's online, collaborative, connected world.

What sort of new Web threats come with Web 2.0?

Today's Internet uses wikis, blogs, and podcasts; networking sites like Friendster and MySpace; and photo-sharing sites like Flickr and Snapfish to help people have fun collaborating and communicating online. With these new types of sites in addition to shopping and banking online, there are ample opportunities for criminals to try to gain access to your user name, password, and personal information.
Web 2.0's threats also include phishing, pharming, and crime ware. In response, Symantec has launched a new set of tools designed to help consumers protect themselves online.
