How to cut down on spam

  • Use free online services like Mailinator or Spamex, or free desktop programs like VersaForward, to create a secondary email address you can use when you shop online or register for Web sites.
  • Use your ISP’s spam blocking tools, supplemented by the anti-spam technology in Norton Internet Security and Norton 360.
  • Never respond to an emailed request regarding an “urgent account problem.” These are always attempts to steal your identity.
  • Spam is illegal. Help put spammers out of business by forwarding spam to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.
