Security Software—What's Right for You?

Ask your Internet Service Provider (ISP) which security vendors they use and learn about those vendors and their products before downloading.
Make sure your ISP's security vendor employs sophisticated technology such as firewalls, antispam, and antispyware.
Find out whether your ISP uses one vendor to assess and manage security risk or multiple vendors.
Check with freeware and software providers to make sure they're providing updates on a regular basis to guard you against the latest security threats.
Before downloading freeware or shareware, be sure to read end user license agreements (EULAs) carefully, so you understand exactly what you are getting.
Make sure the security solution you decide on has firewall and antispyware features that work together to protect your data from hackers, viruses, worms, and Trojan horses.
