Computer stops responding while running ZoneAlarm with Norton AntiVirus 2009 installed

In Norton AntiVirus 2009, the firewall feature was removed to provide you the flexibility to select a firewall of your choice. However, the firewalls that include additional security layers, like the anti-spyware protection that is included as part of ZoneAlarm Pro 7, conflict with the security features included in Norton AntiVirus 2009.

While we plan to address the incompatibility between Norton AntiVirus 2009 and ZoneAlarm’s basic firewall with a product update early next year, it is not likely we will be able to address the conflict with ZoneAlarm Pro 7 due to its inclusion of anti-spyware protection which conflicts with Norton AntiVirus 2009’s security and protection features. For this reason, we alert that you have an incompatible product on your computer when you attempt the installation of Norton AntiVirus 2009 over ZoneAlarm Pro 7.

For the best experience, we recommend that you choose a standalone firewall to compliment your installation of Norton AntiVirus 2009, or if you do not already have one, consider upgrading to Norton Internet Security or Norton 360 which both have the Norton Smart Firewall included.
