Norton Utilities Continues to Lead Market; Provides Users With Unrivaled Problem-Solving Power and Control
Cupertino, Calif. --February 11, 1998-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that Norton Utilities, the expert's choice for solving serious computer problems, was recognized as the best PC/LAN utility in Computerworld's first annual IT Leaders' Choice Awards for value on January 12, 1998. This award was selected by Computerworld's subscribers. None of the other products in the utility category were mentioned as finalists.
Norton Utilities proves its value to anyone faced with a serious computer problem, according to Ron Snaider, a programmer at Rolex Watch USA, Inc. in New York and quoted in Computerworld. In Computerworld, Snaider explains that no one recognizes the value of Norton Utilities faster than administrators. "These tools are invaluable," he says.
For this award, administrators rated Norton Utilities as a top performer. Computerworld mailed 5,000 surveys to subscribers who were asked to evaluate products they installed or upgraded during 1997 by rating the level of return value for each product. The entire results may be viewed on Computerworld's web site at http://www.computerworld.com.
"The problem-solving capabilities Norton Utilities offers is well tested by IT leaders, who need to actively troubleshoot serious computer problems," said Enrique Salem, vice president of Symantec's Security and Assistance Business Unit. "Recognition as a winner in Computerworld's IT Leaders' Choice Awards further illustrates that Norton Utilities is the market leader."

The Computerworld IT Leaders' Choice recognition is only the latest in awards received by Norton Utilities.
