Symantec Partners with DIGITAL to provide Worldwide
Support for Norton Mobile Essentials Customers
- DIGITAL To Provide Support For Any Type Of PC
Communications Problem Customers Encounter While Traveling -
Cupertino, Calif --April 22, 1998-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC),
a leader in the development of mobile software applications, announced
today a partnership with Digital Equipment Corporation to provide
support for Symantec customers who will be using Norton Mobile
Essentials software, a new product designed to detect and resolve
laptop issues.
Recently previewed at Demo 98, Symantec's Norton Mobile Essentials is
scheduled for release in May 1998. The application is designed for
those who travel worldwide and rely on e-mail, Internet, fax and other
forms of PC-based communications to stay productive while out of the
office.
With this agreement, Symantec will provide Norton Mobile Essentials
customers with thirty minutes of connectivity and application software
support by including an Emergency Connection Assistance calling card
in each Norton Mobile Essentials box. The Emergency Connection
Assistance card gives customers access to DIGITAL technical experts --
24 hours a day -- for urgent connection problems and answers to
questions on more than 200 software applications.
