Windows Magazine Calls Version 8.0 "Best Desktop Remote Control
Product. Period."
Cupertino, Calif. --May 26, 1998-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the worldwide
leader in mobile applications, today announced that HREF=http://www.symantec.com/pca/index.html>pcANYWHERE32 v8.0 won a place on Windows
Magazineıs influential WinList of recommended products. In the June 1998 issue, the publicationıs
editors selected pcANYWHERE32 v8.0 as the top remote-control product for Windows 95 and NT users. In
March, the product was awarded the prestigious 1998 Mobility Software Product of the Year from
Mobile Insights, and in May, it received Network Computingıs Editorıs Choice award.
Describing pcANYWHERE32 v8.0 as ³a gem of a program: powerful, useful, no more complex than it needs
to be, and a welcome WinList addition,² Windows Magazine editor Serdar Yegulalp wrote. ³Symantecıs
new pcANYWHERE32 v8.0 is so powerful, itıs almost scary. It lets you remotely control your Windows
95 or NT PC through any connection imaginable, including phone lines, COM or LPT ports, network
connections, and infrared transmitters. Some remote-control packages . . . support desktop
emulation, but not Clipboard and file transfers; pcANYWHERE32 v8.0 offers all that and more.²
Every month, Windows Magazine editors evaluate and compare hundreds of products, including desktop
systems, notebooks, and hardware as well as software products. Editors update the list each month
with new hardware and software to provide readers the most up-to-date information available on
current market offerings. Windows Magazine sends its monthly WinList to readers free of charge via
e-mail subscription.
³The WinList is widely regarded as one of the most carefully scrutinized and influential sources of
accurate product information available to the PC community. We are pleased that Windows Magazineıs
critical product assessment has acknowledged that pcANYWHERE is a world-class remote control
solution,² said Christopher Calisi, vice president of the Remote Productivity Solutions Business
Unit at Symantec.
pcANYWHERE32 v8.0 offers users remote control, file transfers, and general communications with
modem, cable, and network connections in one box. Users can run pcANYWHERE32 as either a host, a
remote control commander, or a gateway.
