Symantec's Norton CrashGuard Deluxe and Norton Web Services Trialware Bundled
with CompUSA Service Protection Agreement
Cupertino, Calif. --June 5, 1998-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the worldwide
leader in utilities and anti-virus, today announced that CompUSA will include 30-day trial versions
of CrashGuard Deluxe and Norton Web Services with each comprehensive Technology Assurance Program
(TAP) it sells. CompUSA will bundle customized trial versions of the software on a CD that CompUSA
TAP customers can use as a first line of defense against software problems.
Purchasers of the service protection will be able to use CrashGuard Deluxe and Norton Web Services
for 30 days without cost. In addition, the version of CrashGuard Deluxe that users will receive with
their extended warranty has been modified to provide unlimited use of the Rescue Disk utility
without cost.

Symantec's Security and Assistance Business Unit. "By including CrashGuard Deluxe and
Norton Web Services, we are offering CompUSA TAP customers powerful tools for protecting their
investments in new computers."

Full versions of CrashGuard Deluxe automatically protect users against PC crashes and screen
freezes, and detect and solve software problems behind the scenes without slowing down system
performance. CrashGuard Deluxe includes Norton AntiVirus software to scan, detect, and remove
viruses.
Full versions of Norton Web Services consist of a growing library of services and utilities
available over the Web. As a member of the service, users may access information, support, and
LiveUpdate Pro -- a powerful utility program that locates and helps users install any hardware
drivers and software updates specific to the users' system.
