have" for Mobile Users
- NSTL Results Show That Norton Mobile Essentials Increases
Mobile Worker Productivity By Up To 95% -
CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 30, 1998 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), today announced
independent testing results from the National Software Testing Laboratories (NSTL), the leading
testing firm in the computer industry, prove Norton Mobile Essentials is the most effective solution
for keeping mobile professionals productive. According to tests conducted for Symantec by NSTL,
Norton Mobile Essentials significantly enhances the end-user's experience in location
management and problem detection performance. New from Symantec, Norton Mobile Essentials is
designed to maximize productivity and reduce the frustration of connection problems faced by mobile
professionals.
"The NSTL results confirm that Norton Mobile Essentials is the best solution available to
ensure that customers stay productive from any location," said Christopher Calisi, vice
president of Symantec's Remote Productivity Solutions Business Unit. "The results signify
that Symantec is successfully providing customers with a valuable solution that resolves connections
problems from anywhere."
For mobile professionals on the road, Norton Connection Doctor helps troubleshoot connection
problems. The test results concluded that Norton Mobile Essentials was found to offer far more
successful resolutions to common modem communications problems than the nearest competitor. Norton
Connection Doctor detected 100 percent of the problems in the test scenario.
When out of the office, Norton Location Controller lets users begin work immediately in any new
location by automatically changing various settings as soon as Windows is started. Instead of
spending time manually configuring Windows settings when arriving at a new location, Norton Location
Controller can be used to automate this process. Test results revealed that Norton Mobile
Essentials significantly increased efficiency in switching between locations for a mobile
professional over standard Windows 95 options. Test results also indicated that Norton Location
Controller saved up to 95 percent of the time required in changing locations.
Norton Mobile Essentials is now available from Symantec's network of authorized resellers. It
has an estimated retail price of $79.95. A 30-day trial version of Norton Mobile Essentials can be
downloaded at www.symantec.com/nme.
