Symantec Introduces Unparalleled Small Business Solution - TalkWorks PRO 2.0

Cupertino, Calif --August 24, 1998-- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC),
today announced the availability of TalkWorks PRO 2.0, the complete
voice and fax messaging solution designed to assist small businesses
and home offices in improving communications with their customers and
projecting a more professional image. With TalkWorks PRO 2.0, even the
smallest office can utilize this most robust range of messaging tools
from their PC to give their small business a large voice.

TalkWorks PRO 2.0 contains a complete set of professional pre-recorded
greetings for answering and directing incoming calls. Users can also
customize and record their own voicemail greetings. Multiple mailboxes

benefit of organizing their incoming messages.
Complete Notification
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 notifies the user of important messages as soon as
they come in. With the notification feature, TalkWorks PRO 2.0 can
automatically send a page or call the user's cellular phone to deliver
a message whatever their location. Rules can be established based on
Caller ID, time of day, etc. to specify when and how to notify the
user that a call or fax has been received. Users can also remotely
access TalkWorks PRO 2.0 from any telephone to retrieve their
messages. With instant notification no message need be missed or delayed.
Complete Call Tracking
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 automatically logs all incoming and outgoing calls
and faxes, even if the caller hangs up. By taking advantage of Caller
ID services from local phone companies, the program tracks who called
in addition to the message itself. TalkWorks PRO 2.0 is also fully
integrated with Symantec's ACT! 4.0 contact manager, thus customer
communications can be easily linked into ACT!'s customer record and
history features. Voicemail messages are saved as wave files and can
be replayed at any time. Thus, no important detail from a customer's
message need be overlooked or forgotten.
Complete Fax on Demand
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 gives small business professionals the ability to
provide their customers with round-the-clock information, completely
unattended, with fax on demand. Customers can have quick and secure
access to information by calling into TalkWorks PRO 2.0 and having
requested documents faxed back to them. Directions, product
information, or specific files set up for availability upon request
can be accessed from TalkWorks PRO 2.0. A customer can call in,
request information and have it faxed directly back to them simply and
efficiently. The fax on demand feature in TalkWorks PRO 2.0 helps
ensure that no call need go unattended whether or not someone is
available to personally answer the phone.
Complete WinFax Capabilities
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 contains full WinFax PRO capabilities, providing the
user Symantec's industry-leading fax solution. Small businesses can
look more professional by sending laser-quality faxes easily and
reliably. Mobile users can be notified via pager or PCS cell phone as
soon as an important fax arrives. They can even have faxes
automatically forwarded to another fax number or an e-mail address.
Voice/Fax Discrimination
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 automatically distinguishes between faxes and voice
calls reducing the need for extra phone lines, thus saving the small
business money and hassle. Both types of messages are logged
accordingly. If a call is manually answered and it turns out to be an
incoming fax, the user can simply hit the Receive Fax button and hang
up. The fax is received and logged as if the user never picked up the
phone.

TalkWorks PRO 2.0 will be available August 24, 1998 and have an
Estimated Street Price of $169.
System Requirements
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 requires a Pentium PC, Windows95, Windows 98 or
Windows NT 4.0 requiring 16MB RAM, and a compatible voice/fax modem.
Strongly recommended are sound card, speakers and microphone.
