Symantec's ACT! 4.0 The Best-Selling Contact Manager, Continues its Leadership by Winning INFOWORLD's Test Center Comparison of Sales-Force Automation Solutions

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Oct. 14, 1998 -Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:

computing, today announced that ACT! 4.0 won InfoWorld's prestigious
Test Center comparison of sales-force automation (SFA) solutions
featured in the Oct. 5, 1998 issue.
The products were evaluated on three performance areas: contact
management, sales forecasting and opportunity management. ACT! 4.0
was chosen over competitors including GoldMine, Maximizer and
TeleMagic and ranked highest in implementation, contact management,
documentation and technical support.
InfoWorld also reported, "Symantec understands its customer base and
