Norton SystemWorks Helps Baseball Fan Nab Seat at the World Series
Cupertino, Calif --October 22, 1998-- Last week, Norton SystemWorks
made one loyal San Diego Padres fan an ardent Symantec fan. On October
13, at 7 p.m. PST, tickets went on sale via the web for the World
Series match-up between the Padres and the New York Yankees. Among the
millions of baseball fans sitting at keyboards with fingers poised and
ready to strike was John J. Greene, who was looking to score tickets
for himself, his wife, and his two young children.
What Greene and much of the rest of the world discovered, though, was
that the ticket web site was instantly overloaded. "Each time I tried
to access the web site, my system would crash," Greene says. His
friends were having the same unfortunate experience, striking out time
after time. However, while his friends remained down for the count
with every crash, Greene stayed on his feet, thanks to Norton
SystemWorks. "I had installed Norton SystemWorks on my PC several
weeks ago," he explains. "As a result, its CrashGuard component
intercepted each crash-and there were hundreds of them-and let me stay
online."
Two hours later, Greene was the proud owner of four tickets to last
nights Game 4 of the 1998 World Series where he, his family and
thousands of other raving fans had an experience of a lifetime.
Norton SystemWorks is the industry's first completely integrated suite
