AntiVirus 5.0 Deluxe includes a six-month free subscription to Norton
Web Services, Symantec's library of web-based programs designed to
make computing easier and more reliable. Norton Web Services enables
users to receive software updates, including virus definitions, as
well as freeware/shareware via a simple point-and-click interface.
Norton Web Services includes LiveUpdate Pro, which finds and installs
new software updates and hardware drivers from leading manufacturers.
Norton AntiVirus 5.0 Deluxe features NETCOM On-Line Communications
Services, Inc., a leading global Internet service provider, and
includes a $30 rebate as well as 30 days of free Internet service.
NETCOM provides reliable Internet access to customers in the U.S.,

Version 5.0 also includes one free session of Chat Now! technical

via Internet conferencing. Chat Now! is Symantec's most recent support

Chat Now! support site at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/chat/.
Norton AntiVirus 5.0 Deluxe provides protection at all virus entry
points, including shared floppy disks, the Internet, e-mail
attachments, and networks. Version 5.0 features several enhancements
focused on providing customers a more global, simplified, and
comprehensive anti-virus solution. Norton AntiVirus Version 5.0 Deluxe
includes the ability to safely isolate questionable files, submit
files for analysis to the Symantec AntiVirus Research Center (SARC)
directly from the product, handle additional compressed file formats,
and automatically report on actions the anti-virus software has taken.
Like the previous version of Norton AntiVirus, Version 5.0 Deluxe
includes Symantec's next-generation heuristics scanner, Bloodhound.
This technology detects viruses by setting up a virtual computer for a
potentially infected application. As the program executes within this
virtual environment, Bloodhound watches and categorizes the
application's behavior. If the program acts like a virus and tries to
infect other programs, Bloodhound arrests the program, thereby
ensuring administrators and users alike that they are safe from
infection by unknown viruses.
Norton AntiVirus 5.0 Deluxe is part of Symantec's suite of multi-tier
virus protection products designed to protect the enterprise at the
desktop, server, groupware servers, Internet, and gateway levels.
Symantec's Norton AntiVirus products have received numerous awards
since January 1998, including PC Magazine's Editor's Choice in 1998
for Best AntiVirus Utility for the third year in a row, as well as the
